Hike from Carbon Canyon to the Redwoods and a Picnic in the Park
Details
ABOUT THE HIKE: This is a four mile, two hour, loop hike in Carbon Canyon Regional Park. The highlight of the route is a visit to the iconic Redwood Grove, 241 trees, planted five decades ago. As the largest such grove in Southern California, it's a real opportunity to hug a tree and commune with nature. The loop takes us on the Carbon Canyon Creek Nature Trail, through the Butterfly Garden, and passing the park's scenic lake back to the trailhead parking. The hike is dog friendly and suitable for advanced beginner hikers on sidewalks and wide dirt trails.
ABOUT THE PICNIC: Following the hike, we will return to trailhead parking for food and beverage items to be enjoyed at covered picnic tables over looking the lake. This is a potluck picnic so please bring food and share and BYOB. Restrooms are available at the trailhead parking lot.
