🐉 TrainDay2LA: Golden Dragon Parade & Chinatown Adventure
Details
Let’s take the train to LA Union Station to celebrate the Year of the Horse at the 127th Annual Golden Dragon Parade! This is one of LA’s oldest and most vibrant traditions, and we are heading straight to the heart of Chinatown to soak in the festivities.
About the Event: The Golden Dragon Parade features colorful lion dancers, martial arts troupes, and spectacular floats winding through the streets. Since it’s 2026, the energy for the Year of the Horse will be incredible!
The Plan: We'll take the train from Irvine to LA Union Station; we’ll head into Chinatown to find some mid-morning fuel; we’ll explore the Far East Plaza and the surrounding blocks, where there are plenty of options ranging from traditional sit-down spots to quick-service windows and regional street food. We’ll play it by ear based on the crowds and group preference. After lunch, we’ll hit the streets to watch the parade and explore the hidden alleys and plazas. Expect to walk ~4–6 miles as we navigate the festivities and see the local street art.
