Sunshine Social Hike 10/5: Honeybee Canyon 😁☀️

Let’s enjoy a beautiful social hike on the north side of Tucson at Honeybee Canyon! We will be hiking the Honeybee Canyon Southern Loop Trail and then the North Trail.

The first part is a 1.5 mile loop that goes around some cool ruins, the second part is a 2 mile out and back mainly along a wash that ends with some neat petroglyphs. There is a total of about 200 feet of elevation, some small hills in the southern loop. This is an easy hike with beautiful views, but it will be pretty warm and there is limited shade.

Please note we are going back to 8am start time for social hikes! With a dip in the temperatures (still warm!), we can probably get away with starting at 8 from here on out.

We will be starting introductions at 8:00am. After 15 minutes or so of intros, we will begin hiking and return to the parking lot just before 10am (having taken our customary group picture at the halfway point, of course 😁)

Please bring water and sunscreen, hiking poles are not necessary unless for your comfort. The second part is pretty sandy with wash hiking.

The weather forecast right now calls for 68 degrees at the start and 78 by the time we finish, definitely on the warm side (as we discovered a few weeks ago…warm but manageable)! This is a dog friendly trail 🐶

There is a no parking fee, the trailhead is big enough for all of us but be mindful that people have gotten lost in the past: honeybee in gps is different for some people, please allow yourself a few extra minutes should you be guided down the road.

Let’s get some brunch at Snooze on Oracle afterwards. I’ll get a head count after the hike and call ahead for a patio table for our group.
