Presentation
The Equity Housing Model proposes to deliver truly affordable housing to meet growing demand in the housing crisis through an innovative Life Lease model. The model offers life-long housing security for a heavily discounted price compared to market housing, and prices are matched against median income, rather than volatile market pricing. The model is built on a sustainable and self-sufficient financial model, that requires no government subsidy, and is envisioned to generate revenue with each new project in the long term, allowing it to be scaled and replicated quickly.
For residents, housing developed is not only affordable, it is built with the resident’s health and happiness at the forefront, not profits. Quality, sustainability and liveability become the main priority, and residents are encouraged to contribute and shape the design of their new homes. All housing built under this model will be mixed income, with housing options targeted from moderate, to very low-income earners of our city. This allows us to not only provide housing relief to more people in our city, but develop a diverse and vibrant community who care about the home they live in.”

Summary of actions from meeting #1
In short we were going to invite other groups and individuals interested in co-housing to join us and we were going to reach out to others to make connections. This included a survey. Please see the meeting notes for more detail.
How we're going to achieve our goal
Part of our role is to bring interested people together; to educate and inform; to support with resources and knowledge; to promote and lobby for co-housing; and to be a clearinghouse of best practice and know-how from around the world.
