Sydney MongoDB User Group - November 2025
Details
Hi MongoDB Users,
Join us for the Sydney MongoDB User Group event as we explore best practices and use cases of app development with MongoDB. Whether you're a software developer, tech enthusiast, or simply curious about new technology, this event is for you.
We're excited to announce an in-person meetup session scheduled for Tuesday 11th November 2025. This is a FREE event.
The agenda for the evening are TBC
- 6:00pm - Announcements
- 6:10pm - **AI & The Future Of Finance Broking by LoanOptions.ai**
Modern applications demand scalability, speed, and flexibility, yet delivering all three with a lean team is no small feat. At LoanOptions.ai, we’ve achieved it by pairing AWS’s managed services with MongoDB Atlas to power industry-leading, transformative solutions. These include AILO, our white-labelled finance application embedded in hundreds of partner websites; HAILO, Australia’s first five-minute home loan application that has redefined how both customers apply for loans; Ask AILO, our 24/7 broker development manager that can answer complex lender policy questions accurately, without hallucinations; and Synapses, our MCP-enabled API hub that allows AI agents to securely access tools, integrate data, and perform actions across systems. - 6:40pm - Catchin' Context: Building a Pokémon AI Agent with MongoDB: Why do most AI agents have the memory of a Magikarp? This talk tackles AI amnesia by building a persistent, stateful memory in MongoDB, using the complex world of Pokémon Showdown as our case study.
Short-Term: Using documents to track live battle state and turn-by-turn history.
Long-Term: Using Atlas Vector Search for "opponent modelling" (remembering past strategies) and "knowledge augmentation" (querying 1000+ Pokémon moves and types). This 20-minute session will show you how to build an AI that doesn't just battle, but learns. - 7:20pm - Networking / Refreshments
- 8:00pm - Wrap Up
Please RSVP if you plan to attend so we can plan for appropriate food & beverage supplies.
If you'd like to present a talk or demo tech related to MongoDB (or suggest topics of interest) please contact the organisers.
