๐ค Peter Hanssens, Principal at Cloud Shuttle, AWS Serverless Hero
Talk Title: tRPC is going to change your world!
Talk Summary: Let's face it, GraphQL isn't great! Nor are a bunch of managed service offerings for it... there's just a lot of code duplication - sure you can synthesise things but why? Enter tRPC (with some help from Zod)... it's going to change your world!
Speaker Bio: Peter runs a cloud consultancy called Cloud Shuttle and is an AWS Serverless Hero. In his spare time, he runs meetups and conferences and also coaches his son's u7s soccer team.
๐ค Daniela Miao, Cofounder and CTO, Momento
Talk Title: Supercharge DynamoDB using Vector Indexes
Talk Summary: DynamoDB scales!!!! and while it is great for key-value (and some secondary indexes), customers still often connect DynamoDB to OpenSearch / ElasticSearch to get meaningfully richer indexing across all of their attributes. These indexes are really powerful: suddenly, almost every attribute in your DynamoDB table can become query-able! But now, we can do even better by building a vector index on DynamoDB.
In this talk, Daniela will walk through how to connect DynamoDB Streams to Momento Vector Index to instantly index your DynamoDB table. She will go over a sample application with a movies database to demo how powerful vector searches can be - and then show you how simple the code is to get it all up and running in production.
Speaker Bio: Daniela Miao is the Co-Founder and CTO at Momento, a fully serverless data platform with caching, pub/sub and vector indexing. Previously, she led Platform Engineering at Lightstep, where she launched their new Metrics Product. She was also tech lead at AWS DynamoDB, and released cross-region replication. Daniela has spoken at many events including re:Invent, QCon, and Kubecon. At Momento, she works on distributed system performance, observability, security, and the intersection of engineering with business.
Remember to bring along some great questions!
