What we’re about
Join a group of likeminded Snorkelling and freediving enthusiasts. Join us here and on Facebook where you can connect and engage with the community between dives https://www.facebook.com/share/g/hrN5XcUgQmFpZJAq/
We will try to meet each weekend at one of the many fantastic Snorkelling locations across Sydney and the occasional road trip further afield. Our home base will be Shelly Beach at Manly, as it would have to be, arguably, the best place in Sydney to snorkel. Other sites will include; Clovelly, Gordon's Bay, Freshwater, Chowder Bay, Little Bay, Malabar, Maroubra, Bare Island, Fairlight Beach and many others. The calm waters of Shelly Beach are ideal for the beginner and advanced alike. We would love for you to join our group and come explore the many underwater treasures Sydney has to offer.

Annual Rockpool Crawl - Coogee to Maroubra
Giles Baths, 105-109R Beach St, Coogee, NS, AUAnnual Rockpool Crawl - Coogee to Maroubra
Come and join us for the annual Sydney Snorkelling Meetup Rockpool Crawl. We will explore and enjoy each of the rock pools between Coogee and Maroubra.
Meet at 10.00 am at;
- Giles Baths
https://goo.gl/maps/eai2PgvMZZn2MZaw5
After a refreshing snorkel at this beautiful ocean pool we can either walk across the beach or along the beachside promenade to the other end of Coogee Beach to;
2. Ross Jones Rockpool
https://goo.gl/maps/RUg5LSeY99zaVqhE6
If it’s a calm sea day, some may wish to utilise this stop for an ocean snorkel instead, as it will be the most protected area.
This is where it gets slightly tricky. The next stop is McIver Baths. However, this is a ladies only baths!
3. McIver Baths
https://goo.gl/maps/KV6UcKcFvbyH1osM8
The gentlemen can push on a few minutes more to;
4. Wylie's Baths
https://goo.gl/maps/q89sSKrBaqVfNy2N8
There is an entry fee for Wylie’s Baths of $5.50. The ladies might care to skip McIver and join the gentlemen here or enjoy a dip in both. They have a lovely Café here, so it is a good opportunity for coffee or lunch on the balcony overlooking the magnificent pool. Many in the past have said this is their favorite pool due to the abundant octopi that live there.
Once we have all reconvened, it’s time for the walking part of the day. Next stop is;
5. Ivor Rowe Rockpool
https://goo.gl/maps/mTs4Quwua8Zb4Djg6
This is the least ‘flushed’ of all the rock pools and is fed with kerb and gutter runoff from the streets above! It’s a lovely place for a well earned rest at any rate and there is a small rock shelf pool next to it where we can enjoy an ocean snorkel if the conditions allow.
Next stop;
6. Rob Walker Rock Pool
https://goo.gl/maps/m8GMo8B46qH5Kpgp8
A small pool with a variety of sea life.
We will now head to our final destination;
7. Mahon Pool
https://goo.gl/maps/zqjHqADDnKSdSRNV8
We can decide what to do after Mahon Pool. One option is to return to our starting point for a meal and drinks at The Pavilion, Coogee. https://merivale.com/venues/coogeepavilion
Please feel free to use the comments section to organise lifts etc.
I’ll try to keep the group updated here also as we arrive and leave each Rockpool. Feel free to join us or leave us along the way for as many or as few pools as you wish.102 attendees- Giles Baths
