Jana Iyengar (US) - Distinguished Engineer at Fastly
Performance, Deployment, and Evolution: Why QUIC matters for the Future of the Internet

We've all heard much about QUIC in the past few years. This talk will talk about the core technology, and the performance benefits of QUIC for the web and video on HTTP. For some of us, HTTP was always just the beginning, just the vehicle for us to get QUIC out into the world. This talk will go beyond these immediate benefits of QUIC and present my view on our somewhat anticipated sleight of hand. The talk will discuss QUIC's long-term value proposition for the Internet's architecture, including some recent projects, including Media Over QUIC, and a broad sketch of where it can go.

Jana Iyengar is a Distinguished Engineer at Fastly, where he works on all things networking and performance. He has been at Fastly for 6 years, some of which he spent as VP of Product for Infrastructure and Network Services, responsible for the core hardware, software, and networking systems that constitute Fastly’s platform. He is editor of the IETF’s QUIC specifications, he chaired the IRTF’s Internet Congestion Control Research Group (ICCRG) for several years, and he remains engaged in the IETF, the IRTF, and academia. Prior to Fastly, he worked on QUIC and other networking projects at Google, before which he was an Associate Professor of Computer Science at Franklin & Marshall College.

Sponsorship for the evening will be provided by AWS
