Mos Def - The Ecstatic 15th Anniversary

One of the most influential figures in hip hop culture, musician, actor and activist Yasiin Bey (FKA Mos Def) heads to Carriageworks for a night exploration of his back catalogue on Thursday 13 June as part of the Vivid Music program.

Bey will celebrate the anniversary of his critically acclaimed seminal album The Ecstatic in a rare exploration into one of the most complex and singular voices in contemporary culture. Celebrated as a return to form with its eclectic incorporation of elements of hip-hop, jazz, soul, and world music as well as themes of politics and personal adversity, the production on the album is diverse and draws inspiration from global influences.
