Boston Landscape, Seascape, Cityscape Photography Class: Spectacle Island

Details

Greetings Photographers!
Make new friends and have fun on our high seas photo adventure!. Well harbor adventure anyway..... This workshop is designed to help you learn how to create better photos and connect more deeply to the beauty of life. This will be our only trip out to the Spectacle Island for the season.

Spectacle Island is the perfect place to develop composition skills for landscape, nature, macro, and seascape photography as well as working on learning camera settings. Just look at the view from the boat! If you have ever looked at a beautiful scene and wondered what to include and what to cut, this class will help you see what works and why. Shot selection is a skill we will work on. All levels welcome.

We will catch the 10:30am Harbor Ferry, ride 30 minutes to get there, and return on the 3:30 boat. Please bring a bag lunch. There are many scenic spots with tables. There are public restrooms.

I will focus the program on landscape composition skills and camera settings. These can be applied to cityscapes, cloudscapes, and seascapes as well. There are 7 composition strategies you can use to create dynamic, engaging nature shots. Most of you are familiar with the rule of thirds so we will begin with that and then move on. There are six others composition strategies you can use once you get the basics down to make your images more creative in an authentic way.

Please wear good walking shoes. There is not much shade so a hat is also a good idea. There is a shorter route as well if you would rather not walk the whole loop. This is a good time to practice mindfulness and go slowly so you really see what is around you and then translate what you experience into an image.

Other subjects include fences, flowers, beach treasures, skyline of Boston from the harbor, and if we are lucky, we pass under the flight path to Logan. As you can see I am very excited to take you on this photo field trip!

It is weather permitting. So if we have a nice day, we go. If not I will issue refunds. You can buy your Boston Harbor Island ticket in advance on line on Friday. I will confirm go no go on Friday. Right now the weather looks great so we should be all set.

The closest T stop is Aquarium on the blue line Check the https://www.bestparking.com for parking options in the area.

If you have never joined our group for a workshop, this would be a great one! I always design creative, instructional challenges that help you see clearly how to compose your shots for greater emotional impact. I will provide handouts that you can use in the future to keep working on the skills that are introduced during the program.
And of course it is always great to see the "regulars" who have attended many classes and continue to hone your skills.

Boat tickets are $25.00 This is not included in the price of the class tuition.

After class you get to post 5 photos and receive constructive critique. Most people in our group love this because it immediately helps them improve.
This will be fun! I hope you can join us.
