Creative Landscapes & Intentional Camera Motion Technique Belle Isle Marsh

Take Better Pictures - Non-Technical Photography Workshops
Details
Greetings Photographer!
The weather looks good for Sunday so I have decided to offer a contemplative, creative class at Belle Isle Marsh. If we have rain I will issue refunds. But overcast will be perfect for working in intentional camera motion techniques.
Take your mind off everything else for a few hours and focus on nature for your own health and wellbeing. Come for a slow photo walk with us.
Belle Isle Marsh is a special place of beauty near the city that provides the opportunity to really develop your composition skills and creative seeing. Many different landscape scenes are available in this small area.
This is a great class for learning how to use your camera better. Fall is the time to go off auto and start to take creative control of your camera settings. We will work with basics of shutter speed, F/Stops and ISO to control exposure and depth of field.
And this is a key class for understanding composition and light when it comes to landscapes. Discover how to translate your experience in nature to an expression of beauty through your photography. This is a good class for all levels. See sample photos below.
WE will work with Intentional Camera Motion Techniques which create a pleasing blur turning landscapes into abstract images. I will share best camera settings and secrets to how to make the technique work.
The variety of textures available in this small space will keep us very busy. We will do 3 different assignments to help you see light, improve composition, and choose camera setting to capture detail and depth.
Wild Wind and sunlight moving through the grasses of the marsh offer interesting challenges for all levels of photographers.
Seeing the beauty of the marsh requires slowing down and noticing the more subtle colors, and textures. I went on an overcast day and it was low tide, not ideal conditions. Still I was delighted with the intriguing images I was able to capture and you can too. One of the skills of taking your photography to the next level is to be able to take better photos in all lighting conditions.
Even if you have visited this nature reserve before, I think you will see it with fresh eyes as a result of this workshop. We will delve into the visual characteristics that result in more dramatic compositions.
There are also many subjects that would be excellent from closeup and macro shots. Also a good class for iPhone users.
During this workshop we will focus on:
• Best camera settings for capturing the details of a variety of textures in one shot.
• New composition strategies for dramatic and subtle landscapes that evoke a mood and tell a story.
• How to use design elements of symmetrical and asymmetrical composition to achieve balance and wholeness.
• How to adjust your camera setting if you want to work in aperture and shutter priority. ( I will do a special talk for a small group of you who want extra time on this topic. I will walk you through taking your camera off Auto and help you understand the relationship between ISO, Aperture and Shutter priority.)
• Intentional Camera Motion techniques for blur. See sample photos below. This works best if we have overcast light.
One fun aspect of this location, it is right beneath a flight path to Logan. Depending on the direction of the wind this path may be active. If you want to turn your camera toward the sky.... .
This week is easy walking, flat paths. Located 10 minutes from the Bellmont T stop on the Blue line.
And there is plenty of free parking but no restrooms. Dunkin Donuts at Bellmont stop just up the street best bet.
Hope you can join us for this workshop.Suzanne
