What we’re about
Our Tampa Bay Cycling meetup group is targeted for Tampa Bay area cyclists interested in joining together to enjoy biking in the Tampa Bay area. We offer multiple biking speed classes, some shorter introductory group rides averaging from 10 to 12 mph, some rides 12 to 14, and others that are 15 to 18 mph. We are adding leaders for some even faster rides. Please check each meetup for specifics on the average speed anticipated for the bike ride. Most of our rides are as a social, relaxed, but supportive group, in other words no paceline, and trash talking. As we add faster rides some may have a paceline, read the ride description.
Negative or adversarial comments, posts or actions will result in removal and banning of the offending party.
Helmets are required, lights are heavily suggested, and participation is at your own risk, a waiver may be required which leader will bring to ride.
Our founder Patrick Hodgson, started this biking group (originally as Pinellas Pedalers) to meet other cycling enthusiasts and looking forward to exploring the many trails and safe bicycling roads in the area. Although all cyclists of all levels are welcome to join in, our rides will be from 10-90 miles, with most around 20 to 50 miles, and on occasion, a century ride.
We also like to get some of the members to join together to form a team to ride in the various charity events around the state of Florida.
All of our rides are posted on meetup. https://www.meetup.com/Tampa-Bay-Cycling/events/
We at Tampa Bay Cycling do not charge dues.

Harry has served our group leading over 100 rides with probably a thousand participants. Please help us honor him by joining us on this ride or afterwards for food and fellowship.
He has led rides on Withlacoochie, Fort Desoto and other trails but
this weekly casual ride begins at Taylor Park (see map insert).
It is the ride where many of our members got their start and with Harry's encouragement and leadership they have moved up to longer and faster treks.
In many ways these rides are the backbone of our group. As Harry enjoys married life hopefully others will help continue leading intro rides for our all volunteer, and free group passing along what you have so freely received.
The ride starts at Taylor Park (which has bathrooms) and takes us south, via the Pinellas Trail, to and around Walsingham Park. The ride around the park and lake worthy of photos at your choosing. Then on to Seminole City Park for a break before returning to Taylor Park. PLEASE ARRIVE 15 Minutes early.
Afterwards we will go across the street to Your Pizza Shop for food and fellowship. Even if you can not join the ride come for that at 7pm.
Please detail in your RSVP if you are coming for food after so we can alert restaurant. o course you order and pay for your own food and beverages.
