Customers leaving a service (churn) is an issue facing various industries. Churn does not only counteract customer acquisition efforts, the costs of acquiring new customers can be 5 times more expensive than retaining current ones.
A data scientist’s work starts with measuring churn. It may appear obvious, yet a recent survey found that 44% of respondents didn’t know their retention rate. In this talk we will explain how exploratory analysis and explainable AI can contribute to predicting customer churn, and the power of visualization in understanding customer history. Predictive modeling of churn risk can help a business focus retention efforts on high risk customers, improve customer experience by early intervention, and increase revenue in the long run.
