We will be having a photography outing to Selby Gardens Historic Spanish Point campus location situated at 401 North Tamiami Trail, Osprey, FL 34229 on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at 10am until 12:00pm.

Selby Gardens Historic Spanish Point location is home to many native Florida plants, animals, insects, and contains a number of areas suitable for multiple types of photography. The campus contains several structures, manicured gardens, nature paths, waterfront, and butterfly house. Photos from the event can be posted into The Art Of Photography Sarasota / Venice event photo album following the event. Best photo from the event will be chosen from all photographs submitted to be the permanent album cover photo.

This is a FREE EVENT but admission to Selby Gardens Historic Spanish Point is required. Costs are as follows:

  1. A Camera/Cellphone
  2. Depending on your preference; Equipment for Landscape, Macro, or Wildlife photography
  3. Sun protection (Sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, etc.)

  6. Insect Repellent

Take exit 205 for FL-72 toward Sarasota/Arcadia - 0.3 mi
Turn right onto FL-72 W - 0.9 mi
Use the left 2 lanes to turn left onto Honore Ave - 1.0 mi
At the traffic circle, take the 2nd exit and stay on Honore Ave - 0.5 mi
Turn right onto Palmer Ranch Pkwy - 0.7 mi
Turn left onto McIntosh Rd - 2.9 mi
Use the left 2 lanes to turn left onto US-41 S/N Tamiami Trail - 2.3 mi
Historic Spanish Point will be on your right.

From South of 41 and I-75
Use the right 2 lanes to take exit 195 for Laurel Rd toward Nokomis - 0.3 mi
Follow Laurel Rd E and US-41 N to N Tamiami Trail in Osprey - 8.3 mi
Use any lane to turn left onto Laurel Rd E - 3.2 mi
Turn right onto US-41 N/N Tamiami Trail - 4.8 mi
Turn right onto Church St - 282 ft
Turn left at the 1st cross street onto Washington Ave - 0.1 mi
Turn left at the 1st cross street onto Green St - 292 ft
Turn left at the 1st cross street onto N Tamiami Trail
Historic Spanish Point will be on your right.

  • Obey all Selby Gardens Historic Spanish Point campus rules

Selby Gardens Historic Spanish Point Location Guidelines:

  • Preserve our plant collections, art installations, trees, and historic artifacts. Please refrain from picking flowers, leaves, labels, climbing trees or disturb our collections in any way.
  • Outside food and beverages are not permitted at either campus. We have on-site dining options that can be enjoyed indoors or outdoors.
  • Help support sustainability by using the trash and recycling receptacles found throughout the Gardens.
  • Visitors are welcome to take photos and videos for personal use. See Photography Policies for complete details.
  • For commercial and professional photography, please refer to our Photography Policies for details.
  • Service animals are welcome per the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA); however, pets are not permitted at either campus.
  • Please help keep the Gardens relaxing for everyone—bicycles, scooters, skateboards, rollerblades, and loud music are not permitted.

Smoking of any kind (including e-cigarettes and vaporizers) is not permitted.

  • Animals living at both campuses are wild—please do not feed or touch them.
  • Please do not wade, fish, or swim in any body of water on-site or adjacent to the Gardens.
  • Firearms are not permitted.

Inclement Weather Policy
There are no general admission refunds due to inclement weather. However, Selby Gardens reserves the right to close either campus for safety during extreme weather conditions. If this occurs, we will issue passes for a one-day admission to anyone already inside the Gardens. Individual ticketed events have their own rain policies and will be provided on event-specific pages.
Notice of Filming and Photography
By entering Marie Selby Botanical Gardens ("Selby Gardens"), you:

  • acknowledge that you have been informed that your likeness and/or voice may be photographed, filmed, or otherwise recorded and that such photograph, film, or recording, and any works derived therefrom, will be the sole property of Selby Gardens;
  • grant your irrevocable consent to Selby Gardens, its successors, assigns, and licensees to distribute and use your likeness and/or voice (without compensation or credit) for any purpose whatsoever (including for purposes of trade and commercial and advertising purposes) throughout the universe in perpetuity in any media now known or hereafter devised;
  • waive any and all rights you may have in connection therewith (including rights of publicity or privacy, rights for payment or royalties, rights to inspect or approve any image or recording, and rights to bring an action at law or equity against Selby Gardens); and
  • release Selby Gardens and its agents from all liability in connection with the foregoing.

You agree and understand that Selby Gardens and its agents will proceed in reliance upon such release. If you wish otherwise, please inform staff prior to entering Selby Gardens and you will be provided with a wristband indicating your preference.
