Building Engagement With Your Dog
Details
Does your dog struggle to pay attention to you?
Do they seem more interested in the environment than you?
Do you feel like you’re constantly competing with distractions?
Maybe you’ve got a new dog and want to build a stronger connection from the beginning.
This session is designed to help you understand why engagement matters, what it actually means, and how to begin building it in a practical way with your dog.
This will be a relaxed online community session. Feel free to share what works for you as well. This is not intended to be me simply speaking at people the entire time.
I’d like this to feel more like an open conversation where people can learn from each other, ask questions, share experiences, and better understand the foundations of engagement together.
We’ll explore the foundations of building motivation, connection, attention, and cooperation with your dog in everyday life.
Some of the key topics we’ll touch on include (time dependant):
• What engagement actually is
• Why engagement changes everything in training
• Why some dogs appear unmotivated
• Why reinforcement schedules matter
• How engagement supports the learning process
• How to start becoming more valuable and relevant to your dog
• Practical games and exercises you can begin using straight away.
This is the first online session I’m running for this group, so I’m genuinely interested to see how it goes. The goal is simply to build community, support dog owners, and give people a chance to learn something new in a relaxed environment.
This session is not specifically focused on puppy foundations. The concepts apply to puppies as well, but the session is intended more broadly for people with new dogs, adolescent dogs, rescue dogs, or dogs of any age where engagement and connection could be improved.
