A day in Geelong with three fun events. We can meet at the geelong gallery to view the beautiful Archibald paintings at 9:45 to start at 10:00am . We can head off to the geelong foreshore market and pick up some lunch and if you want you can take some photos of the stalls or head to the geelong botanical gardens .
Cost into the gallery is $24 and $20 concession.
Geelong is hosting The annual Archibald Prize and is eagerly anticipated by artists and audiences alike. Judged by the trustees of the Art Gallery of NSW, the prize is awarded to the best portrait painting. Since 1921, it has highlighted figures from all walks of life, from famous faces to local heroes, reflecting back to us the stories of our times
The Geelong Waterfront Makers & Growers' Market is held on the lawns of Steampacket Gardens,
The market offers local produce, tasty gourmet treats, beautiful art and handcrafts from regional makers and growers in a stunning setting. There is also local live music and delicious hot food .
the Geelong Botanic Gardens were established in 1851 and they are set over 200 acres. Since development, the gardens have grown and transformed to include a variety of gardens and lawns, including the modern and innovative 21st century garden. The iconic Geelong bollards and an assortment of sculptures are also scattered throughout the garden.
Entry is free, with easy access and level and paved walking tracks. Parking is ample and free and there are multiple public toilets situated around the gardens. They close at 5:00pm
