Book Group: Irène Némirovsky, Suite Française (Week 1 of 4)

Suite Française by Irène Némirovsky. I came across this novel somewhere a few years ago, and it seems very interesting. It was written by a Ukrainian woman living and writing in France. She wrote this novel about the German occupation of France as it was happening and then in 1942 was captured and sent to Auschwitz, which she did not survive. I've tried to verify that it's not just her story that is harrowing but the book itself is good, and it seems to be the case, but we'll have to see.

We will take 4 weeks to read it; this is week 1.
