Details

This is a casual 3.6-mile, fit beginner, out and back hike with an elevation gain of 502'. Meet me at the Mammoth Highlands Park in Moorpark at 6:30. We will wait 5 minutes before starting.

**NOTE** Please don't sign up for this hike if you are in a rush or have other plans after. My hikes are casual and slower paced (1.5-2 mph), we take breaks, and we explore. I can't guarantee that we will be back at exactly the end time. Thank you.

The Hike
The entire hike will skirt the backyards of the local residents, so please respect their privacy and keep the noise down. Most of the trail is a horse path, with a wide trail behind some of the homes. At one point we will go off the path and walk along a single-track trail to the bluffs that overlook the Rustic Canyon golf course and Happy Camp. We will see Moorpark College in the background.

Checklist

  1. Bring your flashlights just in case we need them.
  2. Bring a minimum one liter of water, snacks, hat, poles if you need them, sunscreen.
  3. Good hiking shoes or boots are the preferred footwear.
  4. Bring a jacket if you easily get cold or a windbreaker for wind.
  5. I recommend wearing a whistle.
