Ethical Dilemmas-To Shoot or Not to Shoot

Details

Ethical Dilemmas: to shoot or not to shoot.
Dealing with questions of self-imposed restrictions or self-censorship while photographing sensitive situations that cause physical, emotional, spiritual, or psychological pain.
Questions will be raised on the ethics of photographing these traumatic events throughout a photojournalist's career.
What’s the public good weighing against what's the private pain that's incurred and what’s the effect on people who are going to see these images?
Are the photographs going to be too upsetting for the victims and their families? Or, is there a greater good being served?
I’ll also discuss the responsibility of a photojournalist while telling stories through images. Capturing the emotion of a decisive moment, facial expressions, hand gestures, the light, and composition all come together to tell a compelling story in a single photograph.
Thanks,
Al
