** Rescheduling June meeting to August to free everyone up for Pride events**

Hey Read-for-Funners, in August we're reading Butter by Asako Yuzuki. This will be an in-person event.

"There are two things that I can simply not tolerate: feminists and margarine.” - and if that doesn’t hook ya, I don’t know what will!

So, you know, Food and Feminism.

Butter is based on a true story and opens with serial killer Manako Kajii (also known in real life as the Konkatsu Killer) already in prison, where she refuses to speak to any interviewers, especially women.

Journalist Rika Machida is keen to interview Kajii and manages to connect with the imprisoned woman by exploiting her interest in food (i.e., asking for a recipe).

The story is about journalist Rika as she researches Kajii's history, strives for autonomy, and ultimately discovers how she wishes to exist as a woman.

As always you do NOT have to finish reading the book, but know that there will be spoilers in the discussion!

The RSVP policy is in place for this event to respect the venue's space. You have until 6 p.m. the day before to change your status to NO so we can notify any wait listers. See you all there!
