Drop the ego, be more humble, build better things
Amelia Schmidt
Building technology is hard, but sometimes we make it harder than we need to because it makes us feel good.
We wear complexity as a badge of honour and act as though hours spent = value gained. However, more often than not, deleting code is more valuable than adding it; whiteboard sketches are more valuable than high fidelity designs and doing one thing a time a time works better than trying to do it all at once.
It’s time to take a good hard look at our product, design and development habits we’ve built up over the years and strip it all back, along with our puffed up egos, to embrace humility as the key tool for best practice process in the modern age.
Amelia is a connector, facilitator, creative maker, innovator and empathy machine. She speaks engineer, design, content and business, and is a passionate advocate for best practice and excellence in user experience.
