Women Entrepreneurs Pitching Workshop

Details
Prerequisite for Women's Pitching Competition!
If you have not attended a TiE Pitching Workshop before, we strongly recommend it, especially if you also want to enter the Women Entrepreneurs Pitching Competition (https://www.meetup.com/TiE-Sydney/events/57974262/) and win a ticket to Silicon Valley!
CBA Women in Focus Program
This event is exclusively for Women Entrepreneurs, conducted in partnership with the Commonwealth Bank of Australia Women in Focus.
The ‘Elevator Pitch’
The legend of the ‘elevator pitch’ is that you happen to ride an elevator (or ‘lift’ for us Aussies) with a very wealthy potential investor (an ‘Angel’ - imagine Rupert or Lachlan Murdoch) and you have an opportunity to ‘pitch’ or sell your investment proposal to this person before they get off the elevator! (Trust us, this happens!)
So if in the 30 seconds you have the Angel’s undivided attention you can convince them you have a winner, they can write you a cheque to make your idea a reality. If not, well, you just lost the opportunity of a lifetime!
While that is the dream, the practical application of an ‘elevator pitch’ is very real. All entrepreneurs will raise money at some stage and will present their proposal to an Angel, Venture Capitalist or Strategic Investor. If your pitch does not grab their attention in the first few minutes, it is unlikely they will give you the time for a more detailed presentation.
Who is this Workshop for?
This workshop can be useful as a prelude to the development of a full business plan or to focus an existing business plan. It can be valuable for entrepreneurs at a start-up stage or at a later stage of growth when they may be seeking fresh investment or strategic partners. The workshop can also strengthen the ability of corporate employees to present business proposals within large organisations in a more compelling manner.
Workshop Goals
The “Elevator Pitch” Workshop is a practical and interactive process that can enable participants to:
Clarify their thinking about their proposed business concept; Understand how to clearly communicate their value proposition for customers and investors; Gain valuable feedback from an expert panel to improve their concept and its communication.
Workshop Process
The limited time frame and public presentation mode creates a demanding situation that can bring out the best (and worst!) in participants and contributes to the achievement of workshop goals.
An expert panel drawn from the venture capital and investment advisory community provides feedback to participants with keen insights on the expectations of the professional investment community. Feedback from other participants and the audience also enables the refinement of both the business concept and its communication to people who may not be familiar with the industry sector of the business proposal.
The workshop will run from 2pm to 5pm.
Workshop Cost
This workshop is FREE for all pitchers entering the Women's Pitching Competition, courtesy of our sponsor, DeccanQueen. You do NOT need to register for this event.
For all others, this is a priced workshop with limited places, at $49 for TiE members and just $99 for others. You will need to sign up and pay online via PayPal at the TiE site by clicking here (https://www.123signup.com/register?id=stgsq). Hurry, places are limited!
