Wurundjeri Spur Abbotsford Loop (Approx. 14km, 200m elevation - EASY)
Wurundjeri Spur Abbotsford Loop (Approx. 14km, 200m elevation - EASY)
Join us this Boxing Day for an inner-city trail walk. Come for a social chat and walk off all the Christmas day feasts. This will be an easy loop through Fairfield and Abbotsford. **Please read all of the following information before RSVP'ing.** · *Do not FOMO into any of the Eastern Hiking & Adventure events unless you intend to attend, i.e. check the date, the distance and complexity of the walk before joining that walk. Those members who consistently are last minute withdrawals, are no shows or disrespectful to any members or leaders will be asked to remove themselves from that walk and **may be** removed from the group. All the leaders are unpaid volunteers who spend many hours of their own time researching each walk to the best of their abilities at no cost. The organisers attempt to minimise members left on the waitlist (within reason) with priority given to those loyal members who regularly attend walks and provide an enjoyable environment for others.* **Directions**: enter the Melbourne Polytechnic Student carpark from Yarra Bend Road **Fitness Level**: · A good level of fitness is required as you will be expected to walk approximately 5km/hr and we will have a 15min snack rest in the middle. **What to bring:** * 2 litres of water * snacks or lunch * appropriate walking shoes * rain/wind/sun protection clothing * SPF50 sunscreen * personal First Aid kit **DISCLAIMER** · Our events may be difficult and/or hazardous. Eastern Hiking & Adventure organisers will not accept liability for any loss, injury or accident. Participants should take care, wear suitable clothing and footwear, maintain their equipment, and act appropriately in their surroundings and follow the directions of the event leader. You are responsible for your own safety. Ambulance cover is strongly recommended and by RSVP’ing to this event you indicate acceptance of these terms. We look forward to seeing you there!

Port Phillip Bay loop (includes ferry crossing) (4 spots - road trip)
Hello! This is a rain or shine event! I have done over 50 road trips in 3 years and no matter the weather, the sights are still beautiful! Photos from some past road trips are on the group Instagram below (pinned posts also show the 14 routes and various rentals I have hired): [Instagram: Road Trips by The Dancing Voyager: Ron Singh](https://www.instagram.com/the_dancing_voyager_ron_trips) **IMPORTANT NOTE! If no attendees are confirmed 24 hours before the trip, event will be cancelled! At least 1 confirmed attendee needed for the event to go ahead and it will be a rain or shine event! Once you confirm your spot, further information will be messaged to you regarding breaks, meals, what to wear and what to bring. Thank you!** Please see the group description if you want to know more about who I am and why I run this group. If you have any questions, please feel welcome to reach out through Meetup or Instagram! **\-\-\- RULES \-\-\-** **Two simple rules to join:** **1: You must be either an International Student, Working Holiday Maker or a tourist (no evidence is required! I will trust you!).** **2: It will be your first time going to the location (again, I will trust you!).** **\-\-\- ROAD TRIP SUMMARY AND ITINERARY \-\-\-** Day trip to Port Phillip Bay for a loop. Vehicle will be going on a ferry to complete the loop! Amazing changes in scenery during the entire road trip! **Itinerary: Arthurs Seat lookout - Rye Beach - Sorrento - relaxing ferry crossing to Queenscliff (45 minutes) - Thirteenth Beach - Torquay Beach - Bells Beach - You Yangs mountain range lookout (you can swim at the beaches (except Bells) or just walk/relax)** **Meeting point: Fed Square, 8:45 am**. Back there by **7:45 pm**. Meet by the steps. **\-\-\- PAYMENT \-\-\-** **Total fee: $20 (payment details will be messaged). This covers a new, large rental (SUV), fuel and driver.** Prepayment is needed to finalise your spot. I will provide you my mobile number for PayID, which is a secure payment through internet banking. The fee is very low because this is just a formality to confirm your place, so that I know you are serious on attending. This project is my community service. I have done over 50 road trips and it has never been about the money. Please see the group description for reason on why the fee is so low. **Cancellations:** If I cancel the road trip for any unforeseen issues, a full refund will be given. If you cancel, there is no refund. Sorry! **\-\-\- RESPONSIBILITY\, LIABILITY\, SAFETY \-\-\-** As your driver, I am responsible and liable for your safety while we are in the vehicle. Passengers are insured as per the Australian law. For times we are outside the vehicle, we then become responsible for our own liability and safety, just like every other capable adult in society.
West Dandenong Ranges Loop (15km, 1000m elevation - HARD)
West Dandenong Ranges Loop (15km, 1000m elevation - HARD)
This is a challenging hike with a number of short but steep hills, predominantly tackled in the first half of the hike. This is a great half-day hike to test your cardio, glutes and legs. There are a combination of wide and narrow, but well maintained paths. We will start at Doongalla Picnic Ground with accessible toilets and carpark. We will get to Sky High Cafe approximately half way through the hike for a snack break and toilet stop. **Please do not RSVP to any Eastern Hiking & Adventure event unless you are fully committed to attending**. It is your responsibility to check the date, distance, and difficulty of the walk before RSVPing. Members who frequently withdraw at the last minute, fail to show up, arrive without being on the "going" list, or behave disrespectfully towards leaders or fellow members will be asked to leave the walk and may be removed from the group. All leaders are unpaid volunteers who invest a great deal of their own time to plan and research each walk. Their efforts deserve respect and consideration. Organisers do their best to minimise waitlists where possible, and priority will be given to reliable members who attend regularly and contribute positively to the group experience. **Fitness level**: This is a *challenging*, grade 4 hike. You need to be in very good physical condition. you will need to have good knees! Bring poles if you usually rely on them. **What to bring:** * at least 2 litres of water * snacks or lunch * proper hiking shoes and weather-appropriate clothing * walking poles (optional) * personal first aid kit. **DISCLAIMER** **Our events may involve challenging and potentially hazardous conditions.** Eastern Hiking & Adventure organisers accept no liability for any loss, injury, or accident that may occur. **You are solely responsible for your own safety.** Participants are expected to take appropriate precautions, including: * ensuring you have a suitable level of fitness and health for the specific event * wearing appropriate clothing and footwear and keeping your equipment in good working condition * acting responsibly and being aware of your surroundings * following all directions given by the event leader Ambulance cover is strongly recommended. By RSVP’ing to this event, you acknowledge and accept these terms.
Friday Climb
Friday Climb
Hello Climbers! Just meet at the yellow sign and introduce yourself :) From there we pair up to climb. If we have an odd number of people, we can make a rotating group of 3. There is also a self-belay area if you want to get in more climbing if in a group of 3 or arriving earlier. If the event you are planning to go to only has one or 2 people on the ‘attending’ list, we encourage organising a climbing partner in advance so you can make sure you have at least one other person there to climb with! Feel free to reach out on the event wall or message a host :) Meet up will start at 6pm but if you want to start earlier you certainly can, but again you will need to organise a climbing partner in advance. New climbers are welcome, however your mandatory induction takes about 15/20mins. Harnesses, shoes and chalk bag can be hired also. Book in here for your induction: https://www.hardrock.com.au/online-booking/ If you are unwell, please don't attend!

Everybody's welcome! Non MBTC members need to join club by the fourth ride with us, ask us how! An easy ride, on this balmy weather, aimed to leisure cyclists mostly on bike paths and quiet suburban streets. In the event of extreme temperature, over 30 deg C, we'll ABANDON the ride and look for a rail station to go back home! Please bring your own food, drinks and plenty of water for the day. Ride end time is a guesstimate only. Check route here (give or take a couple of wrong turns): https://ridewithgps.com/routes/51689092 Early lunch at the 22 k mark, around Jells park, or if you know the area we could take your suggestion. The route is 90% sealed, and the terrain is pretty easy to navigate with no climbs. So bring your, in good condition, bike, we suggest 32+ mm tires. We'll keep a steady pace, stopping often to regroup. No one left behind policy applies, but you need to keep yourself properly fueled and hydrated through the ride. "Not Really a Cyclist" small urban bike adventure 5km or so.
"Not Really a Cyclist" small urban bike adventure 5km or so.
**🚲 Eat, Drink & Dance Melbourne: The “Not‑Really‑a‑Cyclist” Bike Adventure**! A super‑chill trial ride for absolute beginners, wobbly riders & the bike‑curious. Give yourself and hour or two to go from wobbly to having a quick ride around some of Melbourne! For people without a bike try the city based bike hire company[Blue Tongue Bikes (Rental and Tours)](https://bluetonguebikes.com.au/) Or bring your own. Ready to see Melbourne from a whole new angle—the bike seat angle—without needing Lycra, fitness, or any idea what “cadence” means? This playful warm‑up ride is designed especially for people who don’t ride bikes… but like the idea of cruising, chatting, laughing, and discovering the city at a very easy pace. Think of it as: Eat. Drink. Dance. Pedal (gently). **🌟 Where We Begin** We’ll meet at Blue Tongue Bikes, Batman Park (King St & Flinders Lane). If you don’t have a bike—no worries! You can hire one there for a few hours, or grab an e‑bike from other spots around the city. If you need to hire a bike please get there 30 to 60 minutes beforehand to iron out all the hiring details with the shop or hire a bike the day before if you go elsewhere. Just make sure you’ve had a little practice beforehand so you’re not learning from scratch on the day (unless you enjoy chaos, in which case… bold choice). 🌟 **What We’re Doing** This is a 5 km-ish practice loop around Fishermans Bend, a flat, friendly circuit perfect for building confidence. We’ll roll back into Batman Park at the end—smiling, slightly sweaty, and feeling very Melbourne. If the group is feeling good, we might extend the adventure toward St Kilda or nearby paths. Totally optional, totally vibe‑dependent. 🌟** **Why We’re Doing It**** This is the warm‑up for a bigger 30+ km Capital City Trail ride happening about a week later. Think of this as the “first date” before the “proper date.” **🌟** Who It’s For**** - New riders - Nervous riders - Social riders - People who haven’t touched a bike since primary school - People who want to see Melbourne’s gorgeous bike paths without pressure - People who want to meet fun humans and enjoy the city in a new way 🌟 **What to Bring** - A helmet (non‑negotiable) - Water - A sprinkle of road‑rule awareness (we’ll mostly stick to bike paths) - Your best “I‑might‑fall‑over-but-I’m‑still‑having-fun” attitude Good idea to bring a lock for the bike **🌟 Pace & Vibe** Super easy. Super social. Zero ego. If you’re a bit clutzy, that’s fine—we’ve all been there. We’ll help you out, cheer you on, and keep things relaxed.
