Evergreen Games
'Evergreen Games' is back.
This one day event is to raise money for the Cure Brain Cancer foundation.
There will be open gaming space for everyone to come and play your favourite board games in, and we are planning other events to help raise money for charity, such as a raffle for some great games.
A suggested donation of $10 will be charged for entry (children free), after which you can come and go throughout the day.
For those new to modern board gaming, we will have volunteers ready to help select and teach new, interesting games from our extensive library of modern board games that will be available to play on the day.
The Clyde has a large room to accomodate around 100 people, and a fully-licensed bar and restaurant, so food and drink can be purchased during the day (please do not bring your own food or drink along).
Save the date, RSVP and please do spread the word - sharing this event or inviting others is a great way to let them know this is happening, and help make this event a huge success.
This annual convention has been established to commemorate the life of a dear friend and gamer Simon "Evergreen" Pearce who enjoyed and gave so much to the hobby, before being taken from all of us far too soon, and to raise money to help fight the cancer that took him from us.
Please note that if you are unable to make it down but would still like to make a donation the easiest way to do so is via the memorial page hosted by the charity at https://curebraincancer.org.au/fundraising/in-memory/in-memory-of-simon-pearce-5d15031c
Our Tree of Wisdom
*‘Universally, trees have long been perceived as doors or gateways to other levels of consciousness, and humans have always honoured trees for their gifts and their wisdom.’*
Fred Hageneder
Under the auspicious influence of a New Moon in Taurus, join transpersonal art therapist and tarot reader Rachael Wildman as she turns our attention to the spirit of the Earth by focusing on trees; reminding us how we human beings have searched for Truth through the ages beneath their leafy boughs, providing insights into how we resemble these arboreal beings, and then looking at the symbolism of trees as they appear in the Tarot.
The talk will then branch out into a description of the process she took in creating her own Tree of Growth tarot spread; detailing what instigated its creation, the inspirations that fertilized its growth and how the spread is read along with the self-transformative benefits that can be found in seeking its counsel.
After the talk, time shall be given to explore the Tree of Growth spread as a collective process wherein everyone shall be granted the opportunity to participate, to divine a card through a simple ritual and then share insights into the reading of the spread for the benefit of a flourishing spiritual community.
There is no need to bring along a tarot deck as one shall be supplied, nor is it necessary to be a seasoned theosophist or tarot reader; an open-hearted curiosity, a love of nature’s spirit and our own unique wisdom-seeking nature is all that is required.
*‘Trees are the earth’s endless effort to speak to the listening heaven.’* Rabindranath Tagore
**The MTS is committed to providing events that align with and further The three objects of The Theosophical Society:**

* To investigate unexplained laws of nature and the powers latent in the human being.
*

Crown Chakra Reiki Practice Night
Namaste, healer.
It's time to light up the seventh chakra. It's where higher connection, spiritual awareness, and clear consciousness all come together.
And when it's humming, life just flows better.
Hence, our Reiki Crown Chakra Healing Night, where we'll do powerful meditations and group healing to strengthen it.
The crown chakra is especially important for healers, because it's the chakra that connects us to healing energy itself .So without it being strong and open, the energy simply can't flow properly
Among other things, the crown chakra is essential for:
* Spiritual awareness (so you can sense the bigger picture and feel guided in your life)
* A sense of connection to something greater (so you feel supported rather than alone in the world)
* Inner knowing (so you can access wisdom beyond the thinking mind)
* Mental clarity (so you can think cleanly without getting tangled up in your own head)
* Living in alignment with your higher purpose (so your daily life reflects what actually matters to you)
So come and join us for a powerful practice night and leave feeling energetically open and clearly connected.
I'm back from holiday, so will be leading this personally.
Hope you can make it,
Jeremy

📚 #InPursuit – A Book Club for Builders, Thinkers, and Doers
📚 #InPursuit is a book club for entrepreneurs, creatives, and curious minds who know personal growth fuels business growth.
See a lot of RSPVPs and wonder how it works? We'll break up into groups of 6-8 to share our insights, then swap groups after 30-45min so you can maximise learning from everybody!
Note: this even is not organised by or affiliated with The State Library of Victoria
That's what #InPursuit is all about It’s not a traditional book club, it’s a space for people who are actively designing a better life through the pursuit of business, creativity, and personal growth.
This event is for anyone #InPursuit of better business, life and relationships. Instead of reading the same book, we each come prepared to share one powerful insight from something we’ve read in the past 3-months. Anything non-fiction that’s moved us forward.
Whether it’s a mindset shift, a productivity system, a new philosophy, or just a truth that punched us in the gut. This is a place to unpack it together and hear what others are learning too.
We’re not just here to read. We’re here to integrate. Because when we grow, our business and our lives grow too.
🔍 Why Join? You'll leave with:
*- 5–10 fresh insights from books you may never have picked up*
*• Deeper awareness of how others think, lead, and evolve*
New connections with people walking a similar path toward purpose, results, and impact This isn’t a lecture. It’s a room full of people building themselves while they build the thing.
📖 How It Works First time?
No pressure to share, just come curious. We'll break up into groups of 6-8 and share our insights, then swap groups so you can maximise the learning! Returning? Bring one idea you’ve read about in the last 3-months and be ready to speak on:
1. What did you learn?
2. How did it shift your perspective about the world or yourself?
3. How has it changed the way you show up or behave?
We keep it structured, but flexible. After sharing, we open up to Q&A, personal stories, challenges, and deep dives. Some of the best insights come from the conversations *after* the share.
🧠 Who This Is For
• Entrepreneurs or side-hustlers finding their footing *Business owners, and doers building toward better*
*• Curious minds who love ideas but care more about action*
People tired of shallow conversations and hungry for growth If you’re working on something—or becoming someone—this space is for you. It’s a practice ground for people who want to grow forward.
We’re all #InPursuit of mastery, momentum, and the kind of success that starts from within.

What is Euro Games Fest?
EGF Melbourne (http://www.melbournegamers.com/viewtopic.php?f=7) has been running for many years, almost 10 years here. We pride ourselves as a full day outing for any gamers wishing to find others who enjoy their passion. Whilst the name suggests Euro games, our play is not restricted to this genre with many wargamers, ameritrash fans, role players and others regularly attending.
Do I need to bring my own games ?
The club has a collection of games including titles such as 7 Wonders, Alhambra, Ra, Puerto Rico, El Grande, Wars of the Roses, Medici, Settlers of Catan, Looping Louie, Tichu, No Merci, Antike, I'm the Boss, Acquire, Terra Nova, Oltre Mare, Wrott & Swindlers, Bluff, Cash & Guns, Drunter & Druber, Undercover, Stone Age, Amun Re, Cleopatra & the Society of Architects, Power Grid, Ticket to Ride: Europe, Ticket to Ride: USA, Ticket to Ride: Marklin, Russian Railroads, Mombasa, Machi Koro, Castles of Burgundy, Bruges, Bora Bora, Trajan, Trans Europa, Trans America, Ysphan, Bombay, Kingdom Builder, Dominion, Hey That's my fish. Bring your own games or join in others.
But I don't know any Eurogames !
Most games include someone who has not played the game before, so there is always someone new at the table for every game.
Who's coming - No Limits except must be double vaxxed ?
How to get there !
Plenty of parking available on site, obey the parking signs.
150m from Mt Waverley Railway station.
Can I bring my own food and drink ?

NSEG - Northern Suburbs Eurogamers
The Northern Suburbs Eurogamers (NSEG) is a regular meetup held at [Croxton Park Hotel](https://www.croxtonparkhotel.com.au/) on selected Sundays (view the current year dates [below](https://meeples.org.au/nseg/#dates)).
Running since 2012, NSEG is an established group, but we always love playing with new people.
### Where do we play?
The meetup is held at Croxton Park Hotel.
We meet in the Bistro, just near the fireplace, so it’s lovely and warm.

### What sort of games do we play?
We play:
* Games for beginners (which we call gateway games) like Ticket To Ride, Carcassonne, Splendour, Small World and King of Tokyo.
* Strategy (Euro) games like Power Grid, Lords of Waterdeep, Village, Imperial and Suburbia.
* Thematic games (that involve lots of dice and role play) like Betrayal at House on the Hill and Dead of Winter.
* Party Games (quick and easy games) like Resistance, Spyfall and Time’s Up.
* Card Games like Love Letter, Uno, Fluxx, Bohanza, Red7, Fuji Flush, Munchkin.
And much much more! If you have a game you love, bring it along and show us… maybe we’ve never heard of it and will love it too!
We do a rules explanation before each game (unless everyone has played it before) so don’t worry if you’ve never played (or heard) of any of these games.
### How about food and Drinks?
The Croxton’s kitchen has all the pub classics and tasty little bites… check out the [Menu](https://www.facebook.com/pg/CroxtonParkHotel/menu).
The bar also serves drinks, both soft and hard… plus tea and coffee.
### Do I have to be a Melbourne Meeples Inc. Member to attend?
No, though if you are not a member, we do ask that you pay a small donation (we suggest $3) to help cover the cost of the games library and the Melbourne Meeples Inc support structure.
And you can always [become a member](http://meeples.org.au/membership/)!
### How to get there
The Croxton is located at [407 High St, Thornbury](https://goo.gl/maps/s7yePRZ8meL2).
* **By Car:** If you’re driving there is a carpark on the opposite side of the road.

Biological Evidence for Reincarnation
**With 1000s of spontaneous cases with children** investigated and documented over the past 60+ years, the team at DOPS has accumulated a formidable body of evidence suggestive of reincarnation. The types of evidence include detailed memories of verified past lives, personal traits, skills, interests and phobias, etc. and among these the most compelling aspect is cases of birthmarks and birth defects that align with injuries sustained in the previous life, often at the time of death.
**In this session, Russ Townsend** will lead a discussion around spontaneous past-life memories in children, how they are investigated and verified, common objections and refutations, and then a number of detailed case studies related to birthmarks and birth defects. At the conclusion, he will walk through the interpretations and theories about this phenomenon.
**About Russ:**
* Meetup Organiser
* Lifelong enthusiast for science, philosophy, and spirituality
* Member of AIPR
* Trainer / Facilitator
* radio show host
* Author
**Post-Event Social Lunch Hangout (12.45 - 1.45pm)**

Yarra and Botanics Walk discussing 'Hollow Air' by Verity Borthwick
We'll meet at the spot where Fed Square meets the Princes Bridge over the Yarra (near the pedestrian crossing closest to the river from Flinders St, on the Fed Square side).
We'll walk for about 6km along the Yarra River, through the Botanic Gardens and back along the river to Federation Square for a coffee after the walk.
This month, we're reading and talking about 'Hollow Air' by Verity Borthwick
The blurb:
**"Isolation can be hard on a person. It can be hard on the mind, especially when the bush closes in on you in the darkness of night.**
In the tin fields of Far North Queensland, Sarah, a fly-in-fly-out geologist, is working alone at a remote mine site. She spends her time in a sort of limbo, never quite fitting into her life at site or back home in Sydney with her fiancé.
Strange things keep happening at the mine site, and Sarah can try to explain them away as the ramblings of a lonely mind, but there are dead bodies from a mining accident a century ago at the old Dulcie Ada mine, still buried beneath more than a hundred metres of rock.
**A deeply moving novel that explores the friction that comes with the desire to understand the secrets of the Earth coupled with the knowledge that this can exact a toll.**"
Goodreads rating: 3.94
How does a walking bookclub work?
Like a normal bookclub, we talk about the book, what else we're reading, have read, or want to read (as well as a few tangents into life outside literature!) but we do it while walking around Melbourne and then over a coffee. We often split into smaller groups as we walk, but we also regroup through the walk.
Should I read the book beforehand?
The conversation will be more interesting if you do, but you can still come along if you haven't finished it yet!
Do I need to bring anything?
**Comfy** walking shoes, drinking water, some money for coffee or a bite to eat after if you wish. No need to bring the book unless you want to.
No shows
No shows (RSVPing yes and not attending) mean the group waits unnecessarily for those who are not coming, thinking you are running a little late. It’s absolutely fine to change your rsvp for any reason up until the walk begins, and you don’t need to leave a comment, send a message or give a reason, but if you don't click that 'change rsvp' button, you may be removed from the group.
Membership Fee
Did you know that while it is free to attend most events, Meetup charges organisers about $600 a year to organise a group? Members of the Walking Book Club are asked to pay a membership fee of $10 per year (not per event) to help cover this cost. When you join the group, you'll be automatically given a three month trial so you can see what the group is like, without needing to make any payment. If you would like to continue attending events after this, please follow Meetup's instructions to pay the $6.50US/approx $10AUD fee once per year (or contact group organisers if you would prefer to make payment using paypal, payID, cash or bank transfer).
Readings in Applied Theosophy
Join us every first and third Saturday of the month to learn about Theosophical principles and how we may apply them to our lives.
From its inception in 1875, the Theosophical Society encouraged study of the Ageless Wisdom to discover enduring religious Truth and to make Brotherhood a living reality in the world.
*“For real Theosophy IS ALTRUISM, and we cannot repeat it too often. It is brotherly love, mutual help, unswerving devotion to Truth.”*
HP Blavatsky, Our Cycle and The Next, 1889.
*The mission of the Theosophical Society is to serve humanity by cultivating an ever-deepening understanding and realization of the Ageless Wisdom, spiritual Self-transformation and the Unity of all life.*
Resolution passed by the General Council of The Theosophical Society in 1924.
According to these principles, a theosophic life is not just theoretical, but must also be practical, indeed must be a life of service. Amid the noise and conflict of the modern world, what might be our role, as individuals and as a Theosophical Society?
Through a range of books and Theosophical pamphlets, we will look to both exoteric, widespread social principles and to more esoteric, spiritual principles for discussion and guidance.
Your true self - guided Meditation - 10am Edinborough Gardens.
**Your True Self**
**A gentle guided meditation for unmasking.**
reconnecting, and returning to yourself.
So much of life teaches us who to be.
How to act.
How to cope.
How to stay liked, capable, productive, easy-going, strong.
Over time, these layers can become so familiar that we stop noticing them. The body begins carrying them quietly, in tension, in vigilance, in overthinking, in the feeling of always needing to hold ourselves together.
**This Saturday morning meditation is an invitation to gently step beneath those layers.**
Slowing down enough to hear what is underneath the noise.
**Through Yoga Nidra, somatic awareness**, **hypnotic visualisation, breath, and grounding nature imagery**, we’ll explore what it feels like to gradually loosen the identities, expectations, and protective patterns we’ve carried for years, and reconnect with something quieter and more instinctive underneath.
**The session will unfold slowly and gently while lying on the grass in Edinburgh Gardens**, surrounded by the stillness of the morning and the movement of the trees overhead.
**This practice may feel especially supportive if you are:**
• Feeling disconnected from yourself or your body.
• Tired of constantly overthinking or analysing.
• Feeling emotionally or mentally overstimulated.
• Navigating change, uncertainty, or transition.
• Wanting to reconnect with your intuition in a more embodied way.
• Longing to feel more grounded, present, and internally steady.
**This session is designed to help you:**
• Soften layers of tension and performance held in the body.
• Reconnect with your body as a place of awareness and guidance.
• Build trust in your own internal signals and intuition.
• Quiet mental noise and deepen present-moment awareness.
• Feel more connected to yourself beneath conditioning and expectation.
**Session Structure:**
**We’ll begin with Yoga Nidra**, a guided deep rest practice where you simply lie down and allow the body to settle.
Through slow awareness moving through the body, the nervous system begins softening out of alertness and into deeper presence.
**From there, we’ll move into a long-form guided visual meditation** focused on unmasking and reconnecting with your true self beneath conditioning, expectation, and performance.
Using grounded forest imagery, somatic awareness, and gentle hypnotic language, you’ll be guided into a quieter space beneath the constant movement of thought, where the body can begin communicating more clearly again.
**No meditation experience is needed. This session is beginner-friendly and fully guided from start to finish.**
**When and Where**
🗓 Saturday, 16th May
⏰ 10:00am – 11:30am (1.5 hours)
📍 Edinburgh Gardens, Fitzroy North
We’ll set up on the grass near the Rotunda. Look for my yoga mat and the large pink sign that says “Free Guided Meditation.”
**Weather Notes**
This is an outdoor session. If the weather becomes rainy or unsuitable, I’ll update the Meetup event beforehand. Please check the event page before heading out, Melbourne weather can always surprise us. 🌿
**What to Bring**
• Yoga mat or something comfortable to lie on.
• Blanket or warm layers.
• Eye covering or small pillow (optional).
• Water.
• Comfortable loose clothing suitable for cooler weather.
**Arriving Late**
Arriving a little early can help you settle in before we begin. If you’re running late, please still come along and quietly join when you arrive 😊
Everyone is welcome.
**Whether you are feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, uncertain, emotionally tired, or simply wanting a calmer way to reconnect with yourself, this space is here for you.**
I look forward to sharing this morning with you 🌿✨
