It explores the motivations of key figures, the responses of the British colonial authorities and how these conflicts affected ordinary people. You’ll hear stories from people on different sides as they share their thoughts on the wars that shaped their lives. The exhibition also explores the British Government’s attempts to prevent documents relating to the conflicts from being published. In 2011, following a long battle by campaigners, the Government revealed that thousands of these files were still held in a secure archive. *Emergency Exits* helps unpick the path towards recognition in the UK. This is a good 6/6.5 mile circular flat walk starting in Bushy Park and after seeing a couple of memorials it is into Teddington to see the Christmas atmosphere, cross the river and go alongside the Thames into Kingston where it should be fantastic. Once there you can decide how long you want to stay to just look around, do some shopping and return to the car whenever you want but before 6pm. I will of course be leading the group back after a short stop. It is simple to return to the car. Cross Kingston bridge, and cross the road. Turn left and very soon right into Church Grove. Opposite the church, cross the road and go into the gate and follow the path back to the car. which will take 25/30 minutes. NO DOGS PLEASE.
