Soul/Latin/Pop @ Pizza Express Pheasantry ft. Hazel Rose, Edna Louise
***Pizza Express Live The Pheasantry Group's favourite venue. Its lovely stage, lighting and great sound, complete with the classic Pizza Express menu make this a winner.***
**WE HAVE SOLD OUT ALL OUR PHEASANTRY 2025 SHOWS SO BOOK ASAP TO HEAD BACK TO THE KINGS ROAD!**
We are thrilled to welcome Turkish/Danish Soul Pop Artist **Hazel Rose**, with support from gorgeous French soul-jazz-latin artist **Edna Louise -** both with fantastic and talented bands!
**About Hazel Rose**
Hazel Rose is a London-based Swiss-Turkish-Danish singer, songwriter, and independent artist crafting a sound that blends alt-pop, indie, soul, and electronic influences with cinematic storytelling. Known for her emotive vocals, sharp lyricism, and refined aesthetic, she creates songs that feel both intimate and expansive—equal parts diary entry and film scene.
Following the release of her EP Soft Whispers in a Crowded Room and a string of singles including Meet You There, Shadow, Spare Key, 2D, and Hush, Hazel Rose has continued to build a growing international audience drawn to her honest songwriting and distinctive sonic world. Her music explores love, distance, identity, and emotional nuance, often pairing vulnerability with quiet confidence.
Equally at home on stage with a full band or in a stripped-back acoustic setting, Hazel Rose’s live performances are immersive and emotionally resonant, showcasing both her vocal range and her natural connection with audiences. With new music on the horizon—including a forthcoming Bossa Nova-inspired pop project—she is steadily establishing herself as one of the most compelling emerging voices in Europe’s independent pop scene.
**[WATCH HAZEL ROSE HERE](https://youtu.be/4-GMMk36bx8?si=CHyHEsJrghv0WgtS)**
**Edna Louise**
London based Edna Louise is a singer-songwriter and guitarist from the French Riviera. Her musical inspirations take their roots from the Neo-Soul Music mixed with Jazz, Funk and Disco, distilled in the Pop Music canvas, to create a unique sound. She has played widely at jazz venues across London and recently headlined a sold out show at The Lower Third.

The Brownswood Set - Writing Group
We are a group of writers of all kinds of work - novels, short stories, academic work, scripts, poetry, flash fiction, and more.
We meet once a week, on Tuesday evenings, predominantly in order to write but also to talk about what we are working on. The standard format of the group is heads-down writing until around 1940, then whatever else anyone wants to do or talk about.
Everyone is welcome, regardless of what you are writing.
[The Brownswood](https://thebrownswood.co.uk) is a fantastic local pub, located close to Clissold Park/Highbury/Stoke Newington/Finsbury Park. It has a large - and quiet - upstairs area.
Please grab something to drink/eat from the bar, and join us upstairs at 1800.

Last Days of Pompeii (Bloomsbury Theatre)
[https://www.bloomsburytheatre.com/event/2026/05/experiencing-last-days-pompeii-through-silent-cinema](https://www.bloomsburytheatre.com/event/2026/05/experiencing-last-days-pompeii-through-silent-cinema)
## Experiencing the last days of Pompeii through silent cinema
*Presented by UCL Department of Greek and Latin*
Enjoy an early evening screening of a rarely seen yet extraordinary Italian epic from 1913, about romance and menace during the last days of Pompeii, ending with the terror of its citizens as the volcano Vesuvius erupts and destroys their city in spectacular fashion - *Jone or The Last Days of Pompeii.*
A beautifully tinted digital print has been leased especially from the Museum of Cinema in Turin and will be accompanied on piano and percussion by two internationally acclaimed professional musicians: John Sweeney (piano), Jeffrey Davenport (percussion).
The Italian feature film displays the monumental aesthetics, beautifully rich material detail and the exciting drama that was created in the silent era of cinema to imagine the last days and the destruction of the ancient city of Pompeii. Epic films from the silent era made the distant past come alive through their attractive use of gesture and facial expression, exotic sets and extravagant costumes, colour, movement and emotive live music.
As a performance, this event replicates the scale of exhibition frequent in the silent era (epic films were often first shown in opera houses) and the means by which live music once engaged audiences emotionally with cinema’s classical worlds.
The screening will be introduced by members of the UCL Museum of Dreamworlds research project and will be followed by a Q&A.

The ‘castle’ was commissioned by Lady James, probably as a memorial to her husband, and designed by architect Richard Jupp in 1784.
Severndroog enjoyed extensive renovations in 2013-2014, when rooms featuring beautiful ornate ceilings and chandeliers were restored to their original state.
On the ground floor, the Severndroog Tea Room serves fresh hot and cold options for breakfast, brunch, lunch and tea, including plenty of choices for children.
Admission to Severndroog Castle includes the castle rooms, where volunteers will tell you the story of Sir William and Lady James, the building’s uses over the years and the campaign to save the castle.
Your ticket also includes access to the Viewing Platform, where you can enjoy spectacular panoramic views of London and the seven surrounding counties.}

Try Quadball in Finsbury Park!🏐
**Come try quadball - a mixed-gender sport open to anyone and everyone regardless of gender, ability, or background.**
Quadball, formerly quidditch, features players on each side aiming to outscore their opponents by throwing a volleyball through one of three opposing hoops, whilst defending their own hoops with tackles or knocking out opponents with dodgeballs - all while on a broom.
**[Short Video on How To Play Quadball](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tKUZ9LLH-_c)**
These sessions are casual mixed games, and are very beginner friendly, so this is a fantastic opportunity for new people to get involved!
Despite our quidditch origins, quadball is very much a sport unto itself and has no relation to or any involvement with Harry Potter or JK Rowling. We celebrate the inclusion of members of the LGBTQ+ community and welcome people of **all** backgrounds and gender identities to get involved.
---
**These sessions are designed to be casual and easy to get involved with**
* Each session will start with a small warm up, alongside a brief introduction of the rules for newer players.
* Players will be sorted into teams, and we'll have several mixed games across the evening (sunlight depending)
* Games will run for 20 minutes each, split into two 10-minute halves.
* Afterwards we'll head to either The Finbsury or the Twelve Pins to relax, hang out, and get to know the other players.
**Please bring**
* Suitable athletic or outdoor footwear
* *Trainers or Football Boots*
* Suitable clothing for exercise
Whether you’re brand new to sport, a seasoned athlete, or just wanting to give something new and interesting a go - this is the place to be!

**8.30 - Newman Arms, 23 Rathbone Street,** **W1T 1NG**
**9.45 - The Wheatsheaf, Rathbone Place, W1T 1JB**
*Please note that I've put up a slightly earlier than usual starting time for this event, so that we can get to The Wheatsheaf in good time for the live music and to allow for the fact that the Newman Arms closes early on a Saturday.*
The Duke of York, 47 Rathbone Street, W1T 1NW - https://www.mcmullens.co.uk/local-pub/duke-of-york/ - is just a short walk from Goodge Street underground station (Northern Line). Turn right out of the station and after about 75 yards turn right into Goodge Street.
