Little Venice
Little Venice, with its beautiful canals and waterways, positioned where the Grand Union and Regent’s canals meet, this picturesque neighbourhood is home to quirky waterside cafes, cosy pubs and charming restaurants.
Little Venice has been referred to as London's "Venice" for a century before "Little" was added. The name was in frequent use by the latter half of the 20th century.
The origin of the name is sometimes attributed to the poet Robert Browning or Lord Byron who first humorously compared the locale to Venice.

ABOUT OUR SECRET LONDON WALKS
It is a 15-year fascinating journey together to explore the whole of beautiful, enchanting Secret London. The only walking group in the World offering this unique experience!
The individual walks have been created from an original route several miles in length (usually on average about 25 miles) where we have checked every nook and cranny, every hidden alleyway, lane, lost cobbled path, cul de sac, avenue, road or street in that area for you!
It is then shortened, to give back to you a magical walk with all the best bits of 'Lovely London', voted the best City in the World for the 10th year running!
What is given back to you is the most scenic, healthy walk (usually 3-6 miles in length) with some of the walks containing hidden cobbled lanes, lost shops, secret gems, areas lost in time, wonderful views, idyllic Instagram photo shots and all sorts!
Now and then some brief local info is mentioned or something of historical importance along the way.
You will have plenty of time to chat and meet new friends whilst walking the amazing lost areas of London!
So we welcome you to the colourful highlights of this fascinating City of London with simply wonderful things to see!

Last Days of Pompeii (Bloomsbury Theatre)
[https://www.bloomsburytheatre.com/event/2026/05/experiencing-last-days-pompeii-through-silent-cinema](https://www.bloomsburytheatre.com/event/2026/05/experiencing-last-days-pompeii-through-silent-cinema)
## Experiencing the last days of Pompeii through silent cinema
*Presented by UCL Department of Greek and Latin*
Enjoy an early evening screening of a rarely seen yet extraordinary Italian epic from 1913, about romance and menace during the last days of Pompeii, ending with the terror of its citizens as the volcano Vesuvius erupts and destroys their city in spectacular fashion - *Jone or The Last Days of Pompeii.*
A beautifully tinted digital print has been leased especially from the Museum of Cinema in Turin and will be accompanied on piano and percussion by two internationally acclaimed professional musicians: John Sweeney (piano), Jeffrey Davenport (percussion).
The Italian feature film displays the monumental aesthetics, beautifully rich material detail and the exciting drama that was created in the silent era of cinema to imagine the last days and the destruction of the ancient city of Pompeii. Epic films from the silent era made the distant past come alive through their attractive use of gesture and facial expression, exotic sets and extravagant costumes, colour, movement and emotive live music.
As a performance, this event replicates the scale of exhibition frequent in the silent era (epic films were often first shown in opera houses) and the means by which live music once engaged audiences emotionally with cinema’s classical worlds.
The screening will be introduced by members of the UCL Museum of Dreamworlds research project and will be followed by a Q&A.

Try Quadball in Finsbury Park!🏐
**Come try quadball - a mixed-gender sport open to anyone and everyone regardless of gender, ability, or background.**
Quadball, formerly quidditch, features players on each side aiming to outscore their opponents by throwing a volleyball through one of three opposing hoops, whilst defending their own hoops with tackles or knocking out opponents with dodgeballs - all while on a broom.
**[Short Video on How To Play Quadball](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tKUZ9LLH-_c)**
These sessions are casual mixed games, and are very beginner friendly, so this is a fantastic opportunity for new people to get involved!
Despite our quidditch origins, quadball is very much a sport unto itself and has no relation to or any involvement with Harry Potter or JK Rowling. We celebrate the inclusion of members of the LGBTQ+ community and welcome people of **all** backgrounds and gender identities to get involved.
---
**These sessions are designed to be casual and easy to get involved with**
* Each session will start with a small warm up, alongside a brief introduction of the rules for newer players.
* Players will be sorted into teams, and we'll have several mixed games across the evening (sunlight depending)
* Games will run for 20 minutes each, split into two 10-minute halves.
* Afterwards we'll head to either The Finbsury or the Twelve Pins to relax, hang out, and get to know the other players.
