**Overview**
Bootcamp vs real engineering teams: learn what changes in production, what managers expect, and how to succeed as a junior developer.
**๐ From Bootcamp to Production: What Changes in Real Engineering Teams**
Ever wondered what really changes when you move from a coding bootcamp into a professional engineering team?
This workshop pulls back the curtain on how software is *actually* built, shipped, and maintained in production environments.
Weโre excited to host Eu-Loong, past Le Wagon student and an Engineering Manager from Eightcap, who will walk students through the real-world differences between learning to code and working as a professional software engineer.
**๐ฏ What This Workshop Is About**
Bootcamps teach you how to build features.
Real engineering teams focus on building systems that last.
In this session, weโll explore what changes when you step into a production engineering environment, from code quality and collaboration to ownership and decision-making.
**๐ง What Youโll Learn**
* How engineering work differs between bootcamps and real companies
* What โproduction-readyโ code really means
* How teams think about:
* Code reviews & pull requests
* Testing, monitoring, and reliability
* Technical debt and trade-offs
* The role of communication, documentation, and teamwork
* What Engineering Managers look for in junior developers
* Common mistakes early-career engineers make, and how to avoid them
**๐ฉโ๐ป Who This Is For**
This workshop is ideal for:
* Bootcamp students and recent graduates
* Computer science students
* Junior developers preparing for their first role
* Anyone curious about how real engineering teams operate
No advanced experience required, just curiosity and an interest in software engineering.
**๐ข About the Speaker**
Our speaker is a past Le Wagon student and Engineering Manager at Eightcap, a global fintech company, with hands-on experience leading real production teams and mentoring early-career engineers.
Theyโll share practical insights from the industry, the kind you donโt usually get in tutorials or coursework.
**๐ What to Expect**
* Real-world examples from production teams
* Honest insights (no buzzwords, no fluff)
* Time for Q&A with the speaker
* Actionable advice you can apply immediately
**โ
Why You Should Attend**
If you want to:
* Feel more confident transitioning into your first engineering role
* Understand what employers *actually* expect
* Learn how to think like a professional engineer

How is it that you can Help kids or yourself to become a better student!
Too many kids as well as teenagers and adults have problems with study.
Today's meetup will inform you about the basics in STUDY TECHNOLOGY that provides an understanding of the basics of learning and supplies exact ways to overcome all the pitfalls one can encounter during study. This is applicable to young children, teenagers (or their parents that are trying to help them) and adults alike.
Study Technology shows how one studies in order to comprehend a subject so one can apply it. Laws on which learning is based and workable methods have also been discovered for anyone to apply for themselves or when teaching others.
Too many students graduate from school and college unable to put to use what theyโve learned in school.
Itโs not that theyโre stupid or that their teachers didnโt know how to teach.
More than likely it traces back to the one thing missing from most educationsโlearning how to learn in the first place.
We all went to school, yet isnโt it odd that no one taught us how to study?
The information presented at this meetup can help anyone improve others or his own ability to learn.
It is a practical tool that parents and teachers alike can use to enhance a child's study performance. Youโll learn the barriers that lie between your own or a child's education.
And you will very quickly learn how to overcome them.
This technology will enable you or a child to pursue any subject with skill and confidence.
Teachers who have "hard to handle/distributive " or slow learners in class will absolutely love the amazing turn around most often seen in improved behaviour and student performance in class.
If you or your child has difficulties at school (or learning new things at work or online) than this meetup is important to you.
If you can not make it to our meetup than contact the organizer and arrange it to suit your time.
This technology can if one was to live far away be taught online. (extension course)
You may offcourse also opt to have this technology taught to your own child by experienced volunteeer staff or learn about this yourself and transfer this knowledge to those you want to have better grades.
Yes it is possible to improve anyone's study performance. All it takes is just 5 steps.
See you at this meetup.

Snooker/Pool @ the Red Triangle
Meet at the Red Triangle in Fitzroy to play pool. If there are multiple people interested in snooker, we can open up a snooker table.
The host will pay for table hire at the end of the event, then we'll split the cost along with a small addition in order to help cover the Meetup fees (+$2 per person per event) - so please bring $10-15 cash or be prepared to pay via PayID. The host will arrive early and secure a table for us to meet at. See you there!
**Please update your RSVP if you can't make it!**
Rules:
In case any rule needs clarification, we play according to the World Eightball Pool Federation rules (https://www.wepf.org/docs/rules_2019.pdf). The most relevant rules are:
1. Fouls result in two visits being awarded to the opponent. That means the shots "carry on" if balls are potted.
2. Committing a foul on the same shot that the Eight Ball is potted results in losing the game. Potting the cue ball while on the Eight Ball does not result in losing.
3. After the cue ball is potted, the next player can play the cue ball in any direction from baulk (the rectangular area at the top of the rable sectioned off by a line).
PARKING:
There is paid parking here - https://goo.gl/maps/f73ro6uGhjG6e7Cv7. Free parking is difficult to find around that area, but usually there are spots around here: https://goo.gl/maps/18xLmb6htMQSbvbN7.
Please note: the venue is not wheelchair-accessible, and requires climbing \~6 short flights of stairs.
Speaking - Fast learning
Practice speaking at SmashSpeak. Obtain copious stage time. No agenda, technicalities, etc - Just come along, have some fun & speak!
Be on time, as entry door automatically locks close to start time.

What Causes Your Roller Coasters in Life?
Do you sometimes feel like you do well in life then something happens and you slide back, never quite getting ahead.
At this Meetup you'll find out how to identify what actually causes the lows, the highs and everything in between. More importantly youโll get the secret of how to gain control over your life so the highs are higher and the lows go away.
Wouldnโt it be nice to stop the wild roller coaster ride for good? Or at least make it a fun roller coaster ride, with more ups and downs.
There is a hidden factor that will be going over and youโre going to be quite surprised what it is and how much it affects your life.

AI Development Risk Case Studies and how Agentic AI is the future of Appsec
OWASP is ending use of Meetup, so I built an eventbrite for the event.
https://www.eventbrite.com/e/ai-development-risk-case-studies-and-how-agentic-ai-is-the-future-of-appsec-tickets-1981450622150?aff=oddtdtcreator
AI is transforming how software is designed, developed, and deployed, dramatically accelerating velocity while introducing new categories of risk. As organizations adopt AI-assisted coding, autonomous agents, and increasingly complex model interactions, traditional application security approaches struggle to keep pace. This talk examines emerging AI-driven risks through real case studies from the field, highlighting issues such as insecure code generation, data-leakage pathways, model manipulation, and evolving supply-chain threats. We will explore how engineering teams must adapt their people, processes, and governance models to secure AI-augmented development workflows effectively. The session will then introduce agentic AI as the next evolution in application securityโautonomous systems capable of continuous analysis, multi-step reasoning, and real-time remediation. Attendees will learn how combining agentic AI with modern practices can reduce developer friction, improve coverage, and create a future-ready application security strategy designed for the demands of AI-native software development
