**Katori ShintĹ-ryĹŤ** is one of the oldest Japanese sword fighting traditions (koryĹŤ) still practised today and is recognized by the Japanese government as a cultural intangeable asset. The school was founded in the middle of the 15th century by Iizasa ChĹisai Ienao at the Katori Shrine (Katori jingĹŤ) and has become the origin of numerous other martial arts schools over the course of its almost 600-year history.
The training consists of the continuous repetition of fixed sequences of movements (kata) and includes the use of classic Japanese weapons such as the sword (iai-jutsu, battĹ-jutsu, ken-jutsu, ryĹtĹ-jutsu, kodachi-jutsu), the long staff (bĹ-jutsu), the lance (naginata-jutsu) and the spear (sĹ-jutsu), as well as unarmed disciplines, tactics and spiritual aspects.
**The Katori Berlin dojo** is the only official shibu of Otake Nobutoshi-shihanâs dojo Shinbukan in Germany and fully dedicated to the transmission and study of one martial tradition: TenshinshĹ-den Katori ShintĹ-ryĹŤ. Through these efforts we aim to contribute to the cultural preservation of this martial tradition. The dojo has one officially appointed shidosha.
**Our sensei**: Sebastian Graetz has been active in martial arts since 1997. After almost 15 years of taekwondo in Berlin, he started with Katori ShintĹ-ryĹŤ in Asia in 2014. Since then, he has studied in Japan with Ĺtake Risuke-shihan and Ĺtake Nobutoshi-shihan, and in Vietnam with Malte Stokhof-shihandai. In 2023, he received his Menkyo license and permission to set up a training group in Berlin the following year.

music therapy (psychotherapy) sessions
**Music Therapy & Systemic Psychotherapy**
My approach integrates music therapy and systemic psychotherapy to support emotional expression, connection, and transformation.
Through sound, improvisation, and dialogue, we explore inner experiences, family dynamics, and relational patterns in a safe and creative space.
The sessions invite awareness, playfulness, and presence â allowing music to become both mirror and bridge between what is felt and what can be spoken.
Whether through active musicking, deep listening, or verbal reflection, the process unfolds at your own pace, weaving together body, voice, and relationships as pathways to healing and growth.

Experience Connection beyond surface level - Authentic Relating Event Berlin
### Experience Connection beyond surface level - Authentic Relating Event Berlin
đ **Date & Time**: Saturdays, 16:00-18:00
đ **Location**: near Tierpark or Betriebsbahnhof Rummelsburg
đ **Cost**: Donation based
đ¤ **Participants:** 4-12
***
### **Event Description:**
**Surface-level-conversation, anonymity and the feeling of being separated.**
We live in the age of digital connection, but surveys show that **people feel more lonely than ever.**
I think what we need is a regular practice that doesn't need us to be on the same side, to feel connected. A practice where we can be ourselves and experience the healing effects of co-regulation and belonging, through true presence and vulnerability.
A practice like **Authentic Relating.**
Every Saturday (with some exceptions) I host Authentic Relating and Connection Circles in our space for people to experience this practice.
It involves:
* Listening with presence (instead of fixing or judging)
* Speaking from your truth (without over-explaining or apologizing)
* Feeling seen â and allowing that to be enough
You'll be guided through a smooth entry meditation, gentle relational games and reflection exercises which encourage you drop the armor as much as you feel safe with, slow down, and connect on a deeper level â with yourself and others.
***
### ⨠The Agreements:
* **Honor and respect yourself** \- that means stay true to what you want and need and care for yourself\. Only go as deep as you want and feel safe with\. you donât have to open up to everyone\. You might be unified consciousness infinitely connected to everything\, but that doesnât mean youâre not a self too\.
* **Lean into the edge** \- Donât go all in\. But donât cotton\-coat either\. Growth in connection happens at the edge\. And that can be a little uncomfortable sometimes\. Try to explore what fits for you\.
* **Honor and respect others as much as yourself** \- accept and respect boundaries\, practice giving a loving no and commit to connection\.
* **Check your assumptions** \- We all naturally build categories and throw our experiences into these\. Be aware of that and don't let prejudice influence the chance of connection\.
* **Confidentiality by request** \- Nothing can be taken for granted\, unless you ask for it\. You want things to stay confidential? Ask for it\.
* **Keep it slow and be present** \- You donât need to rush and push through\. It's never to slow\, so better breathe one more time\, than one too less\. Stay with how you feel in the moment and keep it safe and slow\.
* **Stay curious** \- Youâve ever seen a child curiously exploring itâs environment? Children have this innate sense of awe and curiosity\, because they donât have categories\. Try to tap into the "not\-knowing" curiosity and watch your relational practice transform\.
***
**Disclaimer:**
* **This is no place to perform**. You don't need to be someone to deserve connection.
* **This is not a place for dating or making friends**. The connection, intimacy and trust you'll experience, might seem more real than everything you know and you are invited to connect afterwards. But this space is for the experience of deep connection. So no hard feelings if someone just wants that.
* **This isn't therapy and it doesn't substitute it either**. If you have serious mental health issues you are welcome, and this experienc might also be helpful and feel healing, but it can't substitute the safe and professional environment of therapy. Although the host is trained in holding spaces and dealing with difficult states and stories, the participants aren't. Just keep that in mind.
***
### ⨠About the host
I'm Morten, coach, facilitator and founder of **The Circle,** a private community for self-employed conscious creators, coaches and therapists growing through vulnerability and connection and building their soul business.

**Who is the tutor**
I discovered my passion for drawing at the age of four, and it has been an adventurer ever since. Growing up, I found inspiration in art magazines, comic books, that surrounded me stirred a desire to make my own art. Over the years, my travels exposed me to diverse cultures and traditions enriching my understanding of heritage and the beauty of interwoven identities. These experiences have deepened my perspective and continue to shape my artistic expression. Through my paintings, I seek to share my thoughts and visual interpretations of the world. But i felt a strong urge to share more than just my finished work ,I wanted to share the process. Thatâs what led me to start my drawing workshops. I believe that everyone has an innate artistic side waiting to be discovered. My workshops are a space where people can explore their creativity, let go of perfection, and reconnect with the joy of making art.

Productive Sunday Morning - Co-Working Session (Deep Work, all work welcome)
Hey everyone!
Iâm organising a co-working + socialising session for all of us who like to work on something (e.g. our own project, freelance or remote work) but don't feel like sitting alone at home. đ
To ensure that we have both **socialising** AND **working**, we will be using the so called âPomodoroâ technique:
**50min of deep work** (silent), followed by **10min of break** to socialise. Then repeat! If you get into flow, you're also welcome to skip the breaks.
Itâs an effective way to stay focused - you can read more about it [here](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pomodoro_Technique).
Anyone from any background is welcome, whatever project you are working on or whatever is your personal background.
I (the host) speak English and German, so either is fine :-)
ââââââââââââââââââ-
AGENDA:
* **15min Intro**
* Get to know everyone, talk about what you will work on today
* **Pomodoro Session** (3x) - *Each Pomodoro session consists* *of...*
* ...**50min** of uninterrupted âdeep workâ (no talking, no interruptions, no phones)
* ...**10min** of break: share your progress with others, talk about what you are stuck on etc.
* Repeat
* Conclude and celebrate your progress
Share your progress, socialise and get to know others đ
ââââ
We'll be at the Social Hub Berlin (they have a food menu in case you get hungry). The structured part will end at 2:30pm, but you're welcome to stay longer, go for lunch together, or leave earlier. See you there đŠľ
**\*\*We'll reserve the long table. Please update your RSVP in advance if you can't attend!\*\***

CMG Gives Back: Food Distribution at CHAMPION FOOD PANTRY!
Start the New Year off right! Join us as we get together to help those in need at this CMG Gives Back event to distribute food at the Champion Food Pantry! Weâve created a great little community of Movie Group friends! Rather than see a movie this time, weâll help âCreate a better worldâ by helping serve people in need. Here are complete details and our plan for this event:
CHAMPION FOOD PANTRY: The Champion Food Pantry provides needed food to neighbors experiencing food insecurity. For this event, weâll be volunteering to help with Food Distribution during client pick up times. Our group will receive on-the-spot training from some of their seasoned regular volunteers.
PLAN FOR CHAMPION FOOD PANTRY: Please arrive by 2:45pm. Our volunteer time will be from 3:00 to 6:00pm.
LOCATION & PARKING: The Champion Food Pantry is located at 1460 S. Champion Ave in Columbus. Parking is located in the lot on Frebis across from the pantry. Please enter through the door marked "Volunteers enter hereâ on Frebis Ave. A map has been uploaded to the photos.
IMPORTANT REMINDER: Our group will be providing the majority of the volunteers on this day so a firm RSVP count is essential. Please only sign up if you are certain youâll be able to attend. If something unavoidable comes up, please update your RSVP no later than one week prior to the event. No shows or cancelations within 1 week of the event will mak you ineligible for future CMG Gives Back events. I appreciate your understanding as we try to ensure the agencies have the volunteers needed to provide the essential services they provide to the vulnerable population they serve.

THANK YOU: This CMG Gives Back event provides an opportunity for YOU to get involved in helping others in our community! But the benefits go well beyond the help we give to others. Volunteering can provide a wide range of personal benefits, including positive effects on mental and physical health, reduced stress/depression/anxiety, increased happiness and improved purpose, life-satisfaction and personal well-being! Plus, the opportunity to get involved, connect with others and help those in need.
PARTNER AGENCY: This event is hosted by Lutheran Social Services (LSS), which serves thousands of people in need each day in 27 Ohio counties by addressing the four core societal issues of food, shelter, safety and healing. LSS offers food through the LSS Food Pantries, housing and supportive services through LSS Faith Mission and LSS Faith Mission of Fairfield County homeless shelters, domestic violence services through LSS CHOICES for Victims of Domestic Violence, senior living and health care, affordable housing communities, and other services that uplift families and strengthen communities.

COUNT RMH Housewarmer Volunteering (Ronald McDonald House)
Some trained COUNT volunteers work together once a month at RMH (http://www.rmhc-centralohio.org/volunteer.php) as Housewarmers (usually on the 1st Sunday from 1 â 5 PM). Some schedule other shifts at their convenience. You may try this out with less fuss by following a "Fast track" or go through the normal process.
Fast track
⢠Arrange a time to shadow a COUNT volunteer. Call Dave Nohle at 614-268-9558 (cell).
⢠Show up and try it out.
⢠Complete application, etc. later.
Normal process
⢠Complete an online application (http://rmhc-centralohio.org/volunteer/).
⢠Attend orientation in advance.
⢠At orientation you will complete forms agreeing to keep family/patient info private and allowing a background check and tour the facility.
⢠Complete one training shift. Daily shifts are: morning 9 AM - 1 PM, afternoon 1 - 5 PM and evening 5 - 9 PM.
⢠Schedule shifts online using the on the RMH scheduling system (http://www.volgistics.com/ex/portal.dll/?FROM=32895).
The Ronald McDonald House (RMH) provides housing and meals for families with sick children. The Columbus RMH is the largest in the world with 137 rooms. COUNT has been volunteering there since May 2014.
Housewarmers work with RMH guests to provide a home-like environment - greet, assist with family needs, answer phones, give tours, assist with checkin/checkout, prepare guest rooms after checkout, clean facility, laundry, restock supplies and staff the front desk. RMH Housewarmers volunteer at least one four-hour shift a month. All Housewarmers must complete an application and agree to a background check before they can be full fledged volunteers.
