For your riding pleasure NoVA CBG presents: Tuesday Night Rides (TNR) B-Group Edition - Belle Haven
This is an interesting urban route as we'll start in Shirlington and ride down Mt. Vernon Trail past the Woodrow Wilson bridge to Belle Haven park (water fountain / restroom). We will then come home through Old Town Alexandria, via the legendary hill "Medusa" and the King Street Climb back to Shirlington.
* The "B" group will go out to Belle Haven Park and turn back with a total of 15 miles (12.5 miles if you decide to turn around at Jones point).
We will be traveling on some streets in Old Town Alexandria so **riders must be aware & comfortable with vehicle surroundings!**
This is the Medium level ride because we're going to keep a pace of 13-15mph on flat stretches (slower on hills) and the total distance is approximately 15 miles.
This is a NO DROP ride so you will not be left behind but you are expected to try to keep a B-Group level pace (NFT 15mph).
**++++++++++++++++++++**
**The Meeting Spot:**

Shirlington Library
4200 Campbell Ave
Arlington, VA 22206
GPS: [https://goo.gl/maps/GXU2cMAG7672](https://goo.gl/maps/GXU2cMAG7672)
We will meet directly in front of the library by the fountains.

**Ride Level Chart**
**++++++++++++++++++++**
NoVA CBG tries to accommodate all levels of cyclists by offering different types/levels of rides. We just ask that you come to the ride that suits your current riding ability the best.
* Introductory Level: If you haven't ridden a bike in a number of years (or are uncertain of your abilities on a bicycle).
* Beginner Level: You can ride for 10+ miles at a pace of 10+ to 12+ mph with potentially minor hills involved.
* Medium Level: You can ride for 20+ miles at a pace of 13+ to 15+ mph with potentially moderate hills involved.
* Advanced Level: You can ride for 20++ miles at a pace of 15+ mph with potentially major hills involved.
Both Medium and Advanced Levels might require handling various challenges such as reading cue sheets, using a Garmin or navigation app, night riding, out of town travel, or any other odd cycling situations.
**++++++++++++++++++++**
**The Fine Print:**

An RSVP of 'YES' is your digital signature and means you have read and understood MEETUP.com's:

Welcome to The Koffee Klatch! These rides were originally based off the Arlington Loop where we visit different area coffee shops or bakeries for a cup and/or treat if desired but you don't have to drink or even like coffee to participate.
This week we will return to Vienna to celebrate **Innergize Day** because Fall has fell and we want to do something for ourselves.
The ride is a 18.7 mile medium(-) level ridden at a social pace (11-13 mph). We will get on the W&OD from the Bluemont Park Parking Lot and take the W&OD, I-66 Parallel Trail and some neighborhood streets to Vienna for coffee at the Frame Coffee Roasters. Afterwards we will zip back downhill on the W&OD to the starting point.

**About Jones Point Lighthouse**
The lighthouse is one of the last riverine lighthouses in the country and the only one still standing in the Chesapeake Bay area. It was first lit on May 3, 1856 by keeper George L. Deeton.
Today it is the focal point of Jones Point Park and a clue to area's history as a busy commercial center and naval base.
Whale oil lamps were originally used to power the beacon at Jones Point, but in 1858 the Lighthouse Board allowed an Alexandria gas company to extend lines to the station.
The land included one of the original District of Columbia boundary stones, which was installed by George Washington and marked the southern point of the ten-mile-square district.
The stone is still visible today in the seawall just south of the lighthouse, and to the north of the lighthouse a marker designating the boundary between Maryland-Virginia can be seen.
**About Fort Foote**
Fort Foote was constructed in 1863 atop Rozier's Bluff to strengthen the ring of fortifications that encircled Washington, D.C. Two of the Guns that protected Washington are still there along with the remains of the fort's earthworks.
**About the Woodrow Wilson Memorial Bridge**
Also known as the Woodrow Wilson Bridge or the Wilson Bridge, the bridge is a bascule bridge that spans the Potomac River between the city of Alexandria, Virginia, and Oxon Hill in Prince George's County, Maryland. The original bridge was one of only a handful of drawbridges in the U.S. Interstate Highway System.
**About National Harbor**
National Harbor is situated on the banks of the historic Potomac River, just minutes from the nation’s capital. Featuring 350 acres of waterfront resort space, National Harbor is a destination unlike any other. The harbor is home to 160 stores, 40 restaurants, the Capital Wheel, and the best sunsets in the area.

Feel Good Friday: POWER BALLAD at the Gateway Film Center + SHAKE NO. 8!
Join us as we get together to see Paul Rudd in the latest comedy-drama-musical from John Carney, POWER BALLAD! The film follows a washed-up wedding singer, a fading boy band singer and a stolen hit song. Here’s a description, trailer and plan for this event:
DESCRIPTION: Rick, a washed-up wedding singer, and Danny, a fading boy band star, bond over music and a late-night jam session. When Danny turns Rick's song into a hit, Rick sets out to reclaim the recognition he believes he deserves. Power Ballad is written/directed by John Carney, the master of the modern musical and creative mind behind Once, Begin Again and Sing Street! It stars Paul Rudd, Nick Jonas, Peter McDonald, Marcella Plunkett, Havana Rose Liu and Jack Reynor.
BUZZ & ACCLAIM: The film premiered to rave reviews at this year’s Dublin International Film Festival where critics call it “a sure-fired crowd-pleaser” that “just might be the feel-good hit of the year!” Others say, “Paul Rudd delivers a career-best performance in this charmer” that’s both “hilarious and deeply moving." The film continues John Carney’s “long run of success with yet another charmer” and “a sharp, hopeful crowd-pleaser that strikes the right notes!”
