Navigating off-trail on a clear night with city skyline views under the stars is magical. Navigating at night in bad weather can also be a huge confidence builder. No matter what mother nature throws at us, night navigation presents additional challenges that add to our skill sets and hiking opportunities.
How do you get out of the woods or back to camp after that amazing sunset? How do those hiking photographers get to mountain peaks for incredible sunrise photos? By hiking in the dark of course! Our bushwhacking night navigation course allows students to experience hiking off-trail at night in a safe learning environment to open up new opportunities like sunrises, sunsets, and distant nighttime views. To add to our solid bushwhacking foundation, we’ll add some new navigation techniques to our toolbox to help guide us when the lights go out. What some would say is a daunting task will turn into one of the most fun, memorable, and confidence-building experiences. Those who complete this course and acquire these skills can consider themselves well-rounded and respected navigators.
Prerequisite: Bushwhacking 2
