Kayak Cypress Pass at Russellville
Details
Fall color at Cypress Pass is beautiful! It's migration time so expect wildlife to be moving around. We typically see Bald Eagles, Wood Ducks, Gallinule, Grebes, Ibis and Coots. We occasionally see Wood Storks in the fall. Great Blue Herons, Great Egrets, Anhinga and turtles are also seen here. We'll be kayaking through a mixture of moss-draped Bald Cypress and Pond Cypress. Plus, there's lots of hardwoods like Water Maples and Poplars that bring out those Fall reds and yellows! This is a gorgeous trip - don't miss out!
This trip will be about 5-mile round trip. Keeping our relaxed pace it will last about 3 1/2 hours. (There's lots of in-kayak stopping for pictures!) We're planning a stop on an island for a stretch break if lake levels permit.
We'll meet at the Amos Gourdine landing. There are restrooms at this landing. Please arrive 15 minutes early if renting kayaks. If bringing your own kayak/gear, arrive early enough to unload and ready to launch by 10 am.
$35/person to rent kayak/gear- includes kayak, paddle, PFD, whistle and we bring to landing. Call 843-697-2812 by Friday, 10/17/25 to rent. Rentals are paid in advance and provided by Blueway Adventures.
