SPECIAL EVENT: Celebrate Aussie Music Month with URoC

November is Australian Music Month and this meetup is dedicated to Australian music.

2.00pm to 5.00pm Saturday 15 November 2025 at St James at Curtin

We are hoping our regular attendees will be joined by other uke players and groups from Canberra and the region, as our guests. It will be a play along with a PA system available.

Light refreshments will be available.

The event will celebrate Australian music from our songbooks in a special pdf that will be available for download before the event. If you want to bring your own version of a song please let us know. Bring 20 copies for sharing at the event.

Send an email if you are coming to uroc.music@gmail.com and the pdf will be sent to you.

Please wear your favourite Aussie music T shirts or other merch that you may have collected over the years.

At this event we will be gathering donations of new and pre-loved ukes or other equipment (including other instruments, stands, tuners etc) in good condition - and cash donations - to give to our favourite cause, Grow the Music growthemusic.org

Format:
We will use the kanakapila format of everyone taking a turn to choose a song from the songbook with the whole group singing and playing along. You can perform a song or bring a new song one with at least 20 copies to share. You can also pass your turn.

When it is your turn, we strongly encourage you to lead the song using the mic and sound equipment provided. We encourage everyone to have a go doing this, because having someone at the mic helps keeping the song moving along with bass and percussion.

Please do not attend if you are unwell.

Guests do not pay to attend.
