The subject of trauma needs to be discussed gently and with care, so why not do so within a supportive community? Join us in March as we discuss one of the most influential (and debated) mental health books of recent years, The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma by psychiatrist and trauma researcher Dr. Bessel van der Kolk.

Join us online via Zoom or in-person at the Loop in Thao Dien, HCMC Vietnam.
You don't even have to read the book to participate!

From the book jacket:

The effects of trauma can be devastating for sufferers, their families and future generations. Here one of the world's experts on traumatic stress offers a bold new paradigm for treatment, moving away from standard talking and drug therapies and towards an alternative approach that heals mind, brain and body.

'Van der Kolk draws on thirty years of experience to argue powerfully that trauma is one of the West's most urgent public health issues...packed with science and human stories'. - New Scientist

'Breathtaking in its scope and breadth, a seminal work by one of the preeminent pioneers in trauma research and treatment'. - Peter A. Levine, Author of In an Unspoken Voice

'Dr Van der Kolk's masterpiece combines the boundless curiosity of the scientist, the erudition of the scholar, and the passion of the truth teller'. Judith Herman, author of Trauma and Recovery

At this meetup, we will discuss Van der Kolk's insights relating to trauma and how these insights may relate to our own lives.
This groundbreaking and widely discussed book explores how trauma can shape not just our thoughts and emotions, but our physical bodies, relationships, and sense of safety in the world. It also introduces a range of approaches people use to support healing, from traditional therapy to body-based practices. Do you agree with his perspectives? Do you disagree? Either way, we WANT your insights 😁

Looking forward to seeing everyone!

Time/Date: Saturday March 28th - 3-5pm AEST (12-2pm ICT)
Location: Online or in person in Vietnam - The Loop, 49 Thao Dien, Ho Chi Minh City
