Charmlee Wilderness Park

Experience the cherished Charmlee Wilderness Park in the Santa Monica Mountains. Rolling trails take you through vibrantly colored chapparal and trees to gorgeous views of the Pacific. This hike is a little more challenging than the others frequented by the Ventura County Trail And Beach Hikers; there is greater change in elevation (~650ft total), and the trails are more technical, with moderately inclined sections that can be more rocky in places. You'll want to bring an ounce of stamina, and a dram of sure-footedness. The hike will take at least 2 hours, as we skirt the edges of the park over nearly three miles, eventually looping back to the trailhead. Best allow 2.5 hours, plus driving time.

All warnings aside, this is a beautiful hike that will slake your thirst for the natural beauty that is available to us at an arm's length here in So Cal.

There was once a fee for parking, but no more. There are nice bathrooms at the trailhead. Bring plenty of water.
