AI Roundtable 2026: Western Australia's voices on responsible AI

A moderated roundtable discussion followed by a practical workshop exploring the rules, risks, and real value of artificial intelligence in Western Australia.

As AI governance frameworks rapidly emerge across Australia, organisations, governments, and communities are being asked to make decisions with significant social, legal, and operational implications. This event brings together leading voices from government, academia, and industry for a grounded, practical conversation on responsible AI adoption and governance.

Around the table:

  • Kate Chaney MP, Independent Federal Member for Curtin. One of Australia’s leading parliamentary voices on AI governance, deepfakes, and safeguards for automated decision-making.
  • Prof. Sharath Sriram, Chief Scientist Western Australia. WA's fourth and most senior independent science advisor, appointed in June 2025.
  • Prof. Toby Walsh, Chief Scientist of the UNSW AI Institute and one of the world's most cited AI researchers. Author of five books on AI for the general public, most recently The Shortest History of AI (2025).
  • Josh Tedjasaputra, Chair of WA AI Hub. Designer of the Responsible AI Governance Sprint and publisher of the Australia AI Business Index 2026. Adjunct at UNSW teaching Responsible AI and Human-Computer Interaction.
  • Dr Eunice Sari, Director of CX Insight and First Asian female Google Developer Expert in Product Design and Strategy.

What you’ll take away:

  • A practical AI Governance Readiness Snapshot tailored to your organisation or context
  • Clearer understanding of emerging AI governance, safety, and policy frameworks in Australia
  • Insights from leading voices across government, academia, and industry
  • Practical perspectives on responsible AI adoption and risk management
  • Opportunities to engage directly with experts and peers across sectors
  • Actionable ideas you can bring back to your board, department, team, or community organisation immediately

This is not a vendor showcase or futurism panel. It is a working roundtable designed to help participants think critically about what responsible AI means in practice.
