Walk to Big Lake Oscar Scherer 10:00 a.m.

A storm cancelled the one previous time a walk to the Big Lake was planned. Let's try again.

Drive to the very end of the park road which ends in a small parking lot, adjacent to the Legacy Trail. There is a pavilion with picnic tables and restrooms.

We will be at the picnic tables from 9:45 to 10:00 a.m.. At 10:00, we'll walk about 200' on the Legacy Trail, go down a steep little hill to join the orange trail. Walk along South Creek, which is completely shaded by very tall trees and has 2 entrances to gopher tortoise tunnels. We'll join the yellow trail to head to the viewing platform at the Big Lake.

To get back to our cars, we can either retrace our steps or return on the yellow trail.

Park entry fee is $4 for a vehicle with one person, $6 for more than one person.
