Our New Scenic Neighborhoods Walk (South of West Portal)

Details

FREE WALK, Saturday, Oct. 11th. At 11:15 AM we will meet in front of the West Portal Branch Library, right next to the West Portal Muni Station. The ending point is the Glen Park Branch Library, close to the Glen Park BART Station. Each attendee may bring one guest.

To get there on Muni from downtown SF go to an underground BART Station and take underground Muni K or M train.

Bring a sack lunch and water. At 11:25 AM we will start walking on West Portal Avenue to Vicente Street. Then we turn left on Vicente towards St. Francis Wood which bends South and becomes Santa Clara Ave. We will continue on Santa Clara Avenue and then turn right on Monterey Boulevard.

Then we visit the 2 big fountains. After exploring St. Francis Wood, we will walk through Monterey Heights. We plan to eat our sack lunches at the Sunnyside Recreation Center and then walk to the Sunnyside Conservatory.

Then we walk to the Glen Park neighborhood and visit the Glen Park Recreation Center. Followed by walking up Diamond Heights. In our old version of this walk we at this point left Glen Park and walked down Noe Valley to the Mission's 24th Street BART Station.

In our new version we will spend more time in Glen Park to enjoy great things such as hill-top views. Glen Park is like a small town inside of SF that has everything, including a BART Station very close to its branch library, our ending point.

This is the 2nd time we are doing this new version. The last time was one year ago. It is a beautiful route and to prove it I am putting a link below to our photos taken the last time we did it:

I estimate the distance is under 6 miles and we will arrival our at the end at: 4:15 PM.

We will have enough restroom stops & see great things such as mansions, views, parks and mini parks. This area has everything except tourists. Max attendance is 70.

I discourage people from driving and parking in SF. If one has to drive to this event one can park for free during the weekends on the street in the nearby St. Francis Wood neighborhood.

This walking group is for humans only. No dogs or other animals allowed.
