Step into the footsteps of early tourists, prospectors, and loggers on this stunning walk through one of Victoria’s most charming landscapes. Walking With Grace invites you to explore Section 2 of the historic Dandenong Ranges Tourist Track, beginning in Emerald, walking through Emerald Lake Park and then on a track through the forest to Cockatoo for lunch and refreshments at the market (1st Saturday of the month) and then return to Emerald.
📅 Date: Saturday 2 August 2025 🕙 Meet: 10:00 AM | Walk begins at 10:15 AM 📍 Start & End Point: Gem Community Arts Centre, 19 Kilvington Dr, Emerald VIC 3782. Park at the Community Arts Centre if it is not being used or in the parking spots nearby on Kilvington Drive.
🌿 Trail Overview:
- Total distance: 13.5 km
- Elevation gain: ¬310 m
- Grade: Easy to moderate, with some steeper sections
- Estimated time: 3.5 hours
- Terrain - paths and tracks, a few steep spots but otherwise flat.
- 🛍️ Market Visit: As we approach Cockatoo, we’ll pause for a browse through the vibrant local market or the nearby bakery and shops —perfect for coffee, fresh produce, handmade goods, or just relaxing before the final leg.
