Hey folks,
We are going to explore Mt Kaukau summit this Saturday. The walk up to Mount Kaukau summit is a Wellington favourite. At 445 metres above sea level, it is the most visible high point in the Wellington landscape. It offers classic views of the hills surrounding Wellington, the harbour, and on a clear day.
We will meet at 10am in Johnsonville Park Carpark. The route will be Johnsonville Park Carpark >> Skyline Walkway >> Mt Kaukau summit >> Khandallah Pool >> Northern Walkway >> Back to the car park.
After the hiking, we probably will go to Johnsonville Mama's Sizzler Restaurant and Bar to have lunch and refreshment.
This trip will only go ahead in nice weather and if there hasn't been too much rain in the days beforehand.
If you are unwell, please stay home and get better!!!!
***HIKE DIFFICULTY***
-- Roughly 8km, 400 meters elevation, 2 ~ 3 hours hiking.
-- The tracks are mostly well formed, some sections very be very steep, rough or muddy. Clearly signposted.
-- Attendance to this event is purely at your own risk. The track is listed as being easy/Intermediate. It is not too hard to handle and the view is worth it.***WHAT TO BRING***

- Can do pickups from Jvl train station at 9:45am if requested, else organise selves***PSVP***
Usually maximum 12 hikers. Please join the waiting list if it's full. Someone may drop off in last day.
Just a reminder if you are unable to make the walk anymore please ensure you update your rsvp so others can join.No show policy: If you are listed as 'Going' and do not turn up, a 'No Show' will be recorded against your name. Three 'No Shows' and you will not welcome to join any hiking events in future.

Wellycon tickets are out, we will meet there mid-day but feel free to:
1: get there earlier and meet at the entrance at 12noon;
2: get half day tickets 3-9pm and someone can meet you at the entrance asking 3pm.
