What we’re about
This group is for anyone interested in supporting the vibrant Wellington live music scene. We started with jazz gigs but now include blues, soul, and funk bands since they are all musically related, plus reggae 'cos I like it.
If you are keen on a gig, RSVP, and look out for other members. Having someone to sit with can make the evening more social.
One final point. Most people are there to listen to the performer, so please hold your chat until a break in the music.
I look forward to meeting you, Andy

See all- Polar ExtremesMoon Pizza Music and Beer Bar, Wellington
The first installment of a swirling trilogy detailing the apocalypse, STRANGE VISIONS 1 briefly emerged in 2019 and caught the eye of NZ music critics such as Graham Reid, who described the work as “fun, surreal, clever, fantasy-full, adultly childish (and vice-versa).”
In 2025, with the musical world-building of Polar Extremes as relevant as ever, STRANGE VISIONS 1 has been re-envisioned for an official release via digital streaming platforms.
The self-produced, mixed, and mastered 12-track record paints a surreal scene for an uncertain future...

- Unforgettable Dinah Washington: Lisa Tomlins & Wade Reeve LiveUnderworld Tavern, Wellington
A Tribute to the Queen of the Blues
Dinah Washington, the self-proclaimed “Queen of the Blues,” was a powerhouse of jazz, blues, and soul whose voice defined an era. Now, her timeless repertoire is being reimagined by Aotearoa’s own queen of soulful expression—the incomparable Lisa Tomlins.
Lisa’s vocal versatility is legendary. Whether interpreting Tower of Power, jazz standards, or contemporary pop, she brings depth, warmth, and unmistakable style. She’s graced stages with L.A.B., Fly My Pretties, Neil Finn, and countless others—earning her place as one of New Zealand’s most beloved vocalists.
Joining her is the ever-tasteful guitarist Wade Reeve, whose intuitive playing complements Lisa’s voice with elegance and restraint. If you caught their stunning set at CubaDupa, you already know the magic this duo creates.
Maybe you'll hear Dinah’s most iconic songs—What a Diff’rence a Day Made, Cold, Cold Heart, September in the Rain, and of course, Unforgettable. This afternoon promises to be just that.

Soul jazz from this fab trio +1.
The electrifying trio of Miles Crayford (organ), Aleister Campbell (guitar), and Mike Jensen (drums). Together they go by the name of ‘The Enigma’. With special guest on sax, Oscar Laven.
Blending original compositions with fresh takes on jazz standards, this highly improvisational group delivers a sound that’s both spontaneous and musical.
