The Slow Down: a community sound bath event

Details
Join me as I pair up with Do Good Leadership Collective (DGL) for a special Slow Down event! This evening will be filled with rest and reflection as we connect outdoors and enjoy a restorative sound bath experience.
Over the summer, the DGL community read Rest Is Resistance together, exploring what it means to embrace rest in our nonprofit and social impact professions. We asked big questions:
What does it mean to daydream with intention?
How does capitalism make rest feel like a privilege instead of a human need?
What would it take to create safety, accountability, and community care so we can rest without apology?
How can we continue to practice rest in community?
This gathering is a chance to embody this learning by weaving it together with a meditative sound bath utilizing crystal alchemy bowls, gongs, and chimes. During this meet-up you are encouraged to allow sound vibrations to soften your nervous systems, grace you with spaciousness to open your mind, and invite you into a collective presence that reminds all of us that we don’t have to carry this work alone.
The Slow Down is a monthly, donation-based gathering designed for social impact professionals who spend their careers caring for others, and are learning to extend that same care towards themselves. This special edition is our way of celebrating the wisdom we’ve uncovered together this summer, and to practice the very resistance we’ve been talking about.
The event will begin with a reflective dialogue on the book Rest Is Resistance by Tricia Hersey. You are welcome to join this discussion, even if you haven’t read the book!! The discussion will be immediately followed by a 30-minute sound bath. This Slow Down event will be hosted outdoors at the beautiful Olivewood Gardens and Learning Center in National City, CA.
The event is donation based (suggested donation of $25), with a portion of donations supporting Olivewood Gardens.
For the sound bath it is recommended to bring with you: a yoga mat (or something to lay on) and layers to stay warm while you allow your body to relax. An eye mask, or piece of cloth to drape over your eyes, is optional as well!
Message me with any questions! This is going to be a beautiful gathering to both replenish yourself, and meet new friends doing the same thing ◡̈.
