Cow and Calf river circular - 14 mile walk.

For any mudrunners this walk will be paradise! This walk is very muddy and boggy , however the awesome views and exciting boulders I feel make up for it. Please don't wear your finery! Waterproofs and walking boots are recommended . This walk is 14 miles. We will meet at the train station in Ilkley and walk to the Cow and Calf via the Rocky Valley and up a fairly steep ascent up the moor. We will start the walk at 10 am the time the train gets in from Leeds to Ilkley. I’ll hang around for ten minutes for any dilly- dalliers. We will go via the White Wells Car Park so any drivers can feel free to make use of the free car park , which we will pass around 09.20- 09.30. This car park is very small so alternatively please use the Darwin Gardens Car Park. We will not go through this car park, so for any drivers parking here, please meet us at the station at 9 or at the White Wells Car Park at 09.20.
After some time, we will reach the Cow and Calf and if anyone feels brave enough to tackle the Calf then go ahead! At your own risk though! ;). Leaving the Cow and Calf behind us, we will head to the top of the moorland and hopefully get some spectacular views of the surrounding hills. We will stay on the tops until we reach a path descending to Addingham, passing some dramatic boulders then heading down through fields and some woodland. We will come to a rather horrible road unfortunately which we will need to cross so please be careful here. When we reach Addingham we will head back along the river to Ilkley.
