Water Voles: Celebrate their return to Cookham

Details

The WildCookham Water Vole Reintroduction project was started in 2019 and has now completed two releases of voles into our local waterways. The good news is that we are getting regular news of local sightings of these special, and endangered, mammals. So join us to look back at the project, its current status and share some thoughts about the future. We'll also be thanking our sponsors and celebrating the involvement of our local volunteers, looking at how a project like this can provide real impetus to local nature recovery initiatives and hopefully encourage others to get involved.

There will be guest speakers and panellists with presentations and a discussion around the project, its future and the importance it has for all of us locally, especially as the home of Kenneth Grahame's iconic book Wind in the Willows. The venue is courtesy of the John Lewis Partnership - our thanks to them.

Come at 7pm when there will be a drink and a chance to look at some of the background to the project before the meeting starts at 7.30pm. All ages welcome.

Here's a film about the second vole release in June 2022. https://youtu.be/3kmPCH_NWY4
