📝 DESCRIPTION:
Join us for a vibrant Wildish afternoon celebrating Logan's Meadow's incredible transformation! ✨
This special event marks the successful completion of the 8-week transformation project. Cambridge City Council collaborated with the Friends of Logan's Meadow and other community groups to expand the local nature reserve and create a larger, more vibrant wetland area.
The city council biodiversity team will lead exclusive tours between 12:00-13:00, showcasing the reserve's incredible ecosystem and recently completed wetland projects. These guided explorations offer a rare opportunity to learn directly from local experts about the conservation efforts and diverse wildlife that call this area home.
At 13:00, we'll enjoy live music from Colonel Spanky's Love Ensemble! This fun and dancey band will perform until 14:00, creating the perfect soundtrack as we all enjoy our picnics together in this beautiful setting. 🎵🧺💃
🎒 WHAT TO BRING:
Your own picnic lunch/snacks 🧺
Water bottle 💧
Blanket to sit on 🧩
Weather-appropriate clothing 🧥
Comfortable walking shoes 👟

🌱 NATURE NOTES:
The 2025 expansion works have more than doubled the size of Logan's Meadow reserve! This transformation has significantly increased the reed bed and open-water habitats, complementing the woodland belt planted by local volunteers along the boundary.
Logan's Meadow is truly a haven for wildlife:
• The reedbed and backwaters provide vital habitats for reed warblers, water voles, kingfishers, specialized reed moths, and Daubenton's bats
• Breeding sparrowhawks and great spotted woodpeckers make their homes in the woodland areas
• A variety of birds including tits, bullfinches, robins, blackbirds, and song thrushes thrive throughout the reserve
• Otters have been spotted on site, and a special holt (otter hole) has been created to encourage them to rest or potentially breed here
This celebration is your chance to see firsthand how these enhanced habitats support local biodiversity and improve our ecosystem!
Can't wait to see everyone there for this perfect blend of nature, music, and community celebration! 🌿🎶
