See all- Bold Park Tuesday Evening Walk (Internal Trails)Bold Park, City Beach
Join us for a workout along the internal bush trails of the beautiful Bold Park near City Beach. Expect a brisk hike, with an average speed of around 6kph, on undulating bush tracks with a few significant hills thrown in for fun.
At about 6km in length, this one hour workout is a great way to finish the day.
These hikes are intended for fit, regular walkers who are looking for more of a workout in nature as opposed to a gentle evening stroll.
So you don't get lost. Here is the map. 😁

We aim to set-off for each walk at the advertised time and as a general rule, we set off on-time for each walk. - Darlington to Greenmount Lookout, 2 Quarries and Nyaania Creek (13km)1 Owen Rd, Darlington
Let's explore this beautiful location together. WMA has made Darlington to Greenmount NP one of our favourite hikes but now I want to modify it and include Nyaania Creek in the walk which has a few small picturesque waterfalls if the area has had local rains. My adventurous Thursday group is prepared to take up the challenge.
Temperatures during this walk are expected to be cooler, between 9°-12°C with precipitation likely overnight but reducing through the morning.
People who venture up the Great Eastern Highway are well aware of the John Forrest National Park on the left and yet they miss this national park hiding in full sight on the opposite side of the road. Greenmount National Park is rarely explored by other walking groups. It offers some lovely bush as well as spectacular views of Perth from its elevated lookout.
We leave Darlington heading west along the Railway Reserves Heritage Trail. We trek to the highest point in Greenmount National Park before we walk around the northern perimeter of the park and up to the lookout to enjoy spectacular views of the Perth planes. Downhill again as we head to Mountain Quarry then south to Nyaania Creek pop into Boya Quarry and back along the Heritage Trail to return to Darlington for a well deserved coffee at The Hive.
Where: Darlington Oval, Owen Rd, Darlington (Click on map for exact meeting point)
Parking: Plenty of parking at the oval near the pin drop
Distance: 13km. Elevation gain 513m and 3 hours of walking time.
Difficulty: A rewarding hike for regular walkers. We will have easy walking for 3km along the flat dirt terrain of the old railway heritage trail with a brisk walking pace of 6km/h. In Greenmont NP expect 2 decent hills to climb, loose sharp rocky tracks, some are narrow and overgrown. Look at that elevation gain, this is a challenging hike and should not be attempted if you are new to hiking or recovering from injury. 😯 I would recommend walking poles and hiking shoes.
What to bring: Water, good hiking shoes, hat & sunscreen, wet weather gear and poles.
Toilets: At the start/end at the Darlington Oval as well as at Mountain Quarry.
Café after the walk: We will share a chat, coffee and bite to eat at The Hive. This is a fabulous café, probably the best in this part of the hills.

Introduction to WMA
We'll continue hosting a series of introductory walks aimed at WMA members who are returning to walking, building up distance/fitness, on a recovery plan following injury and/or want to walk and learn more about the WMA team and hosts. It's probably an ideal opportunity to see if the group is for you before launching into our 10k+ City Park walks and/or Bush walks as we near the Perth hiking season.
Walks will start from the Partisan Cafe in Claisebrook Cove, East Perth. We'll take in the Cove, Matagarup Bridge, the outside of Optus Stadium, Windan Bridge, Heiresson Island/Causeway before returning to the Partisan for an optional coffee and catch-up.
Meet: Partisan Cafe, Claisbrook Cove, EAST PERTH (Click on map for the exact meeting point)
Parking: There is plenty of free parking on Wittenoom St and paid parking on Royal Street
Distance: 7 km. However, there is the ability to do a shorter walk.
Difficulty: Flat terrain & mainly bitumen paths. Expect an easy walk but at a reasonable pace (5km/h) We should complete the walk in under 80 mins.
What to bring: Water, yourself and a good sense of humour
Toilets: At the Partisan or Toast cafe afterwards.
