This session focuses on how identity interacts with Bitcoin, and what that means in practice.

We’ll start with pseudoanonymity. What it actually means, where people misunderstand it, and how your activity can still be traced if you’re not careful.

We’ll then cover KYC. What it is, why exchanges require it, and the practical implications of attaching your identity to your Bitcoin.

From there, we’ll look at some of the complications. This includes data exposure, long-term record keeping, and how the regulatory environment in Australia is evolving.

The second half is about personal security.

How to store your Bitcoin properly. The differences between wallets, what self custody involves, when multisig makes sense, and how to handle your seed phrase securely.

We’ll also cover failure scenarios. What happens if you lose your wallet, and how to avoid losing access to your funds.
