Monthly meetup: Supporting your software users (soft skills)

Details

This month's meetup is a soft skills one, focusing on testing and support. Join us for an evening of learning and open discussion with our fantastic speakers. And as always, food and drinks will be provided.

Vanessa Love, Lead Support Engineer, Octopus Deploy.

How support relates to development is not just the code produced and the bugs returned, but it is and should be a dynamic relationship where the end is not just better software, but happy customers. Learn about the support role and the trove of information gathered at the customer facing level. Learn how the support team can make you a better developer, and information they might be unintentionally keeping from you. I'll also speak about asking for help, how to contact support teams, and why we aren't so scary. There will also be some information about how to respond to tickets from customers if you ever need to.

Vered Netzer, Lead Project Manager, Thoughtworks.

Since this is a ‘soft skills’ meeting, I’d like to talk a bit about the Strength of Analytical Skills. On this MeetUp I’d like to share a debriefing template I’ve been using for years and how it changed my life. Continuous Improvement is one of my mottos. I understand that we are all busy and have a lot on but I also know that most of us have creative ideas and the will to improve the environment around us if we had the time and resources to do so. I refuse to let the routine dictate our lives and to give in to the mediocrity. I believe in changing the world one step at a time, on this MeetUp I’ll share with Women Who Code the tool that helps me achieve that.
