This will be a spectacular coastal hike along the southern section of the Surf Coast Walk from Anglesea to Fairhaven via the Anglesea Heath and Aireys Inlet.
After commencing in Anglesea, we'll follow a clifftop track towards Point Roadknight. Before reaching the point, we’ll head inland into Anglesea Heath, a diverse natural area of coastal woodland and heathland.
After hiking through the heathland, the next stretch is along a wide ocean beach to Urquhart's Bluff. Nesting ocean birds such as Hooded Plovers and Pied Oystercatchers can often be spotted along this stretch of coast.
As we'll reach Urquhart's Bluff, the scenery changes and coastline becomes more dramatic, with spectacular cliffs and rocky features along the way. At this point, we’ll leave the beach and follow a clifftop track.
Eventually we'll reach the coastal township of Aireys Inlet. We'll pass spectacular rugged orange cliffs. After passing the Split Point Lighthouse, we’ll follow the wide expanse of Fairhaven Beach to Fairhaven, from where we’ll catch a bus back to Anglesea.
