Schilthorn hike from Mürren

Schilthorn is one of the well known mountain in Bern Oberland, and becomes popular because of the (old) James Bond movie and its rotating restaurant at the top. It offers great panoramic views on the alp chain with a 360° panoramic view (we are close to 3000m high), in particular Monch, Eiger and Jungfrau. At this time in the saison, we are sure there is no snow on the way and on the top , it offers also regularly cable cars to go down every 30 mn. Everything is available there, if you want to eat, drink, rest.

We start the Hike from Murren and we go up via Grauseeli (walk time 3H) to reach the shilthorn (1 h after). We will make some breaks in between if needed. Bring your picnic or/and eat at the restaurant. We will stay some time at the restaurant to rest. We will go back with the cable car (departure every 30 mn, 30 mn to go to Mürren, last one 17H50).

Level: T3
Pace: normal 400-500m elevation / hour, not slow, not fast …
Bring enough water (2-3l) and snacks/lunch, proper hiking boots as well as sun protection warm clothes.
To go up: 8 kms - 1400m – 4 Hours. Please to be sure that you are fit enough for this hike.

Train from Zurich HB 7H02 (Track 31) or Bern HB 8H04 (Track 8) – change Interlaken Ost – Lauterbrunnen arrival Stechelberg 9H47 – Cable car to Murren arrival 9H55 (see the picture) – Price Half tax 35 CHF From Zurich, 22 CHF from Bern (see the picture)

Way back (example): schilthorn cable car on the top 16H17. Arrival 19H06 bern (53 CHF) or 19H58 Zurich (63 CHF) ( see pictures)

Appointment 9H47 at the station Stechelberg to take the first cable car: I come with my car and wait for you there. Please try to contact each other in the train if you don t want to travel alone.
