A via ferrata is a protected, fixed-cable climbing route that allows people to traverse steep or difficult rocky terrain safely. These routes incorporate steel cables, rungs, ladders, and bridges, which serve as both climbing aids and continuous anchors for a special via ferrata safety set to clip into, blending the experience of hiking and rock climbing.

Via Ferrata Almenalp
For beginners that do NOT fear heights.
The vertical face directly after the starting point, the four roaring waterfalls of the Allmibach, the two three-rope-bridges or the zip line – the via ferrata Allmenalp won't leave one wish unfulfilled!

- Zip lines: 2x (1x 50m) / (1x 110m only accessible with a guide)
Variant «Freude herrscht» for more advanced climbers
The variant "Freude herrscht" is classified as K4+ in the SAC via ferrata scale. This means that this variant is very difficult to climb and is therefore only suitable for experienced climbers free from giddiness.

- Height difference: 150 m
- Iron steps: 394x
- Ladders: 3x
- Bridges: 1x
Attention
- Both have NO exit points, if you climb, you have to finish it, climbing way down is not an option.
- Both require fitness endurance of 3 hours, but I have done it alone in 1.5 hours with short breaks.
- Gloves are MANDATORY, the surface is mostly flat and you need to grab the safety line most of the time. Cédric will carry 2 set of gloves more to lend for free.
Approach time walk: 15min on car road from Kandersteg train station
Exit walk: 15min walk steep to cable car, restaurant, toilets

Transport
There is no transport organised, no Bus.
You can use your own car OR travel with the organiser Cédric Walter by train from Zürich HB
Meeting point in Zürich Main station
Meeting up below the Blue Engel at 6:10 sharp, train leaving at 06:32 Gleis 32
An optional walk around the oeschinensee in the afternoon is possible (additional cost for the cable car)
